My dad was born in 1930 in south Mississippi and this was before electricity or butane delivery. He said you had to have wood cut almost precisely to burn in the cooking stove. My grandma and great grandma knew what size of wood it took to cook their meals. There was never a break from this very physical chore. So much for the good ol days. Have fun and stay safe!

Hey Mike, mechanic here, don't know if you're doing this, but when you thaw a lock or release, lubricate it with something like 3in1 oil. I do that every year around thanksgiving. The film of oil will usually prevent condensation. If it has a key lock , lubricate 2 or 3 times, inserting key and locking then unlocking a couple of times

On Henry Ford Senior's fireplace mantle was the inscription " CUT YOUR OWN FIREWOOD, IT WILL WARM YOU TWICE". I always thought that a good cliché, since I grew up with wood being the only source of heat and cooking in the Valley. Back in those days it was all cut by hand, right from falling the trees to cutting the cord wood. That saying holds true today, even though you have logs brought to you, chain saws, log splitters, and other power equipment, it's still a lot of work.

There was a popular song in the 1940s with a line: "Mares eat oats, and does eat oats, and little lambs eat ivy". A bit before your time, but your older relatives might remember it.

Firewood is my hobby. I burn 3-4 cords yearly, I give it away, cook with it in the outdoor fire pit. I have a good supply of trees that are on the ground. Dead Oak and I'm saying 10 years on the ground burns the longest and hottest. The bark falls off and the first 1 inch off rot falls off leaving perfect! Hard dry wood. I also buy a truck load if I get lazy. Truck load off wood say 17-22 feet long is between $750 and $850 a truck load. Get about 8 cords. You and family be safe. Merry Christmas too.

Mike, We live in rural Indiana and are surrounded by corn and bean fields. Last summer, I heard a whizzing sound I had never heard so I walked out to see what it was. There was the largest drone I had ever seen hovering at the edge of my property over the corn. This thing was huge probably 12-15 ft in diameter. It was there about 10 minutes and I thought is was videoing my shooting range or something. Needless to say I was nervous, puzzled and a little scared at the same time. It finally took off. It was maybe 20 foot high while hovering. Later on in the same day it was back buzzing over the corn spraying. Down the road was a couple of guys with a big flatbed trailer with a large tank like your IBC totes but bigger on the front of the trailer. The drone would land on the trailer and the guys would fill it up with pesticides or whatever. Then it would go back and start spraying, The drone had like 2, 50 gal tanks on it which is a lot of weight. It was very precise in its movements over the field probably used GPS. I guess the days of airplane crop dusting are gone now. If the drones over the east coast are anything like the one I saw, our enemies could easily attach a dirty bomb and wipe out our infrastructure with an electromagnetic pulse. The government better come clean or figure out what is happening before we have another Pearl Harbor.

About 30 years ago, I drove a 1979 F150 4x4 with a home made heavy steel tube front bumper. The whole truck was a bit rough looking, but did what I needed at the time. Anytime I drove it, I noticed people noticed it , and gave me plenty of space. I often had the go ahead wave at 4 way Stops, that never happened when driving a car that had full coverage insurance.

2 things. I grew up in a woodstove house. no other heater. I believe the difference in heat, is wood stove is constant heat. forced heating is on and off. It gets cool before it kicks on. And also the twisty ties. More important is the twisty ties, long term you will be saving insurance on wrist damage from the constant twisting motion. you will probably have it paid for quicker than you think.

Mike, The drone situation smells like trouble to me. Only some people know about the activity taking place in space with extraterrestrials. However, after years of investigating UFOs, I have a heightened awareness. The Germans approached our government in the early 1950s, and we decided to work with them moving forward. The Germans were in contact with aliens while the war was in process, which enhanced their development. They had the first jets, missiles, rockets, and the bell, the first time machine, and it worked. After the war, our government in 1947 sent a fleet of ships to Antarctica. The Germans had an underground base there. To our surprise, the Germans popped out of the water in saucers with iron crosses and swastikas on them. They were using advanced weapon systems and shot down planes and sank ships. Admiral Byrd was in charge, and the operation was called Project High Jump. He left the area before he lost the entire fleet. He reported the technology they were using to the President. The joint venture between the Germans and Americans is a covert operation known as the Secret Space Program. A government branch oversees the operation, and the President is not privileged to any information. Much of our taxation goes to the Black Budget, which supports the program. All this information has been suppressed from the people on the planet. We have technology that can give us free energy and medical beds. However, if we were given the technology, it would cause havoc. Much money is being made on energy and pharmasuitables From my perspective, here is what is going on: The new world order can not allow the President to take office. Trump will expose all the corruption, and many people will fall. The truth about the activity in space will be known, and people will not like what they hear because of the deception. The drones are ours, and they are being used to expose the public to UFOs. The new world order is staging a fake alien invasion and plans to use it to initiate martial law. Thus preventing President Trump from taking office. It sounds a bit out there, but it's the best I can come up with. Let me know what you think of my view. James Carpenter, Country Living

I am a driver behavior expert. One of the things I do when someone tailgates me. Try turning your hazard lights on for a couple of flashes. Most of the time the other vehicle will back off. If they don’t back off then it is an aggressive driver. Red White and Blue flashing eyes stimulates the eyes. So when someone is texting and driving behind you, when the lights go on the driver of the other vehicle will look up and back off/

Mike, I had a 1985 Honda CRX HF (High Fuel-economy 54 mpg.) . 1750 pounds empty, 5 speed, would do 70 at the top end of 2nd gear, it was geared high for better mileage. Anyway, that thing attracted tailgaters like I have never experienced before. Same thing happened later with my 92 Civic VX. I came to the conclusion that some people subconsciously assume every vehicle they follow is a full sized sedan or SUV. Then, when they are behind a small compact, they set distance based on a sight picture of a larger vehicle. That makes them follow twice as close as they should. But there are drivers who always tighten up the distance because you are in their way. I don't know if the drones are sniffing out dirty bombs but if they want to find some dirty bums, they should look in D.C.

For 20+ years our family relied on our two wood stoves for heating our 3,000 square foot home. To save money we would buy it by the core which was only quartered. Therefore, we did all the splitting. No fancy splitter. Just an ax and a wedge. I love the feel of a real fire. But now that hubby is in his 80's and I'm in my 70's, our days of hauling, splitting, making our own kindling (no Morgan's Fire Starter in those days 😊) are done. We are so grateful for the modern convenience of central heating and cooling as well as a gas fireplace. Mike, does your father-in-law still heat with wood?

Mike, personal delivery experiences. Guess it is this time of year and the expanding purchases online. Several of our deliveries, somewhat remote in our area, have been delivered by what I suspect are using newly hired part-time delivery folks driving rental trucks. Our mail box with street number is across the road from our driveway and we own the acreage across the street with shop, barn and other structures with matching fencing from our house. Never know where a lost package is until we look at all structures, one still missing from yesterday. Just part of life today. Watched your channel for years and no doubt you and family will have the issue corrected immediately and hopefully the customer will repost saying so. Merry Christmas to all y'all.

Don't trust until trust is earned. Depending on the government for information is hopeless. Merry Christmas Mike and family.

Hello Mike, my hobby is RC airplanes. Just to fly them I have to be registered with the FAA. It's like insurance and one of the rules in place is you are not allowed to fly over residential areas. If one gov identity that should know is the FAA.

The twisty tie machine is ergonomic friendly too. It’ll save your wrist from seizing up someday. You’ll find other things that’ll make your process more efficient and increase your profit margin as you plug along.
