I am from the USA we have a New Holland 313 pulltype 13 foot cut disc mower. The reason the tongue is so long is because they pull from the center so you can swing the haybine both ways and cut off of either side of the tractor.

There's a long drawbar on the mowr cus it is a centerpull

The draw bar on the mower is so long so you can turn 90 degrees (turn tighter)

The drawbars are long so that they sit better on hills and set ground compared to the likes of Kuhn with short drawbars, the centre pivot is longer again for the same reason.
