About repairing, here is my (free-to-use) idea. We now have two values, wear and hours. Make the wear be "usual maintenance", like oil changes, lubrication etc. Maintenance can go to zero, no affect to how the machine drives. Then introduce "breaks". "Breaks" can be like fuel pump, transmission, drive axle, tire etc. When a "break" happens, the machine becomes inoperable until repaired. Breaks will happen at random, and are less probable if maintenance is kept on high level. Also, as hours go up, breaks come more probable. Then, modify how repairing happens. For wear, you have two possibilities: The current one, where you drive your machine to the shop, pay a hefty sum of money and the crew (who previously worked as the pit stop crew at Ferrari F1 team) spring into action and fix everything instantly. OR. You can have your own repair place, and select that you do the work yourself. Select how much maintenance you want to do (like "to 25% 50% 75% 100%", you pay smaller amount AND THE CLOCK ADVANCES because you spend time there fixing your stuff. The "breaks" could always require going to the shop OR be time consuming to repair yourself. This way there would be things to do during winter. You could fix and maintain your machinery for the coming season. That's what my father did during winter. Sometimes it was a full engine rebuild for the tractor. Sometimes replacing worn parts in the combine or seeder. Sometimes a hydraulic cylinder because it had started to leak oil.
@geoffreyzahn25405 ай бұрын
Fully support almost all of these ideas! One caution is anything that's negative (breakdowns, crop failures, etc.) needs to be able to be turned off. It's a huge improvement in realism, but often just feels bad. There's a mod for KSP, for example, that permits dynamic breakdowns and gives more purpose to an engineer but when they happen to me I just hate it lol.

@partypooper81984 ай бұрын
the reason "it feels bad" is because instead of PLAYING THE GAME you just want to build the bank account. and sadly this game will cater to players who want to build the bank account instead of PLAY THE GAME. I know people like you that just want 100mill to start and never have to deal with any of the game mechanics besides cashing in the crops. anything that slows down this streamlined process is very bad for your playstyle. anything that doesn't initiate instantaneous "number go up" is basically unplayable. it's supposed to be a FARM sim, not a 'make number go up' sim.

My opinions on the options in the video 10. Hard to say no to more tractors but I would like older big tractors like 200-250+ 9. Once again yes but also include more types of green houses and different sizes as well 8. I can say anything to much but I want the ai to follow the shape of the field instead of straight back and forth though I understand this could be annoying to code 7. If this is implemented it needs to be something that you can toggle on and off 6. That would be a godsend it would be so much easier to do things clean without helpers and not needing to download a mod even if it’s simple 5. Could be fun but I don’t really know how Giants would implement it 4. Same 7 it needs to toggle able 3. I’d be worried about fps it would be fun to see other framers tending their field but I can image low quality PCs struggling 2. Personally I think they need to hire some industry experts to completely overhaul their game engine and bring it into the 21st century. Either that or just admit that they don't have the expertise to continue with their own engine and switch to a commercially available one. Because as somebody who has used the mod tools I can tell you right now that it feels like an engine from 2005 not 2025. It's clearly holding the game back, both graphically and with gameplay. I mean look at how interactive the world is..... it's not. Or how hot air balloons are static as if the technology to spawn an entity and have it move around randomly before despawning hasn't been around since the inception of computer graphics. The traffic is the closest thing to interaction and that I know from experience could be set up within an hour in UE5. I don't see how they will do realistic deformation if they stick to the low res grid based terrain system they currently use, which also hurts the game graphically because it looks terrible when trying to terrain edit. There are a thousand small things that could be better if the engine was better.

I think FS could learn a lot from Farmers Dynasty. It has a story mode, building repair, relationships that can change if you mess up, people everywhere tending to their field or gardens. Its janky and not refined, and doesn't have the graphics that FS has, but its more engaging cause you see the impact of your actions on the community. Building a wall for someone will reward you with more work and social standing, or if you get married and cheat on your wife the neighbors lose respect for you. Also A feature I'd like to see is if you sell a field with crops in it. It should be worth more than what you paid for it with no crop on it. It could be a way to make money quicker in game. Buy a field plant it sell it for a profit then repeat on a more expensive field with no crops. Id call it land flipping.

In addition to the thanks for worker travel ability. I say that Giants deserves a thanks for implementing a gearbox! Without mods, someone who plays with a steering wheel and pedals has had to use the brake to drive backwards in FS17 & 19. With FS22 we got the ability to select forwards/reverse, so the pedals worked as they do in real life, and if you want to go full realism, you could use a gearshift to select specific gears.

You absolutely CANNOT compare Spintires/Mudrunner with Farming Simulator. ST/MR uses the VeeEngine alongside Havok. FS uses the Giants Engine, which CANNOT do what the VeeEngine does. I've had a similar beef with people who insist that Starfield should be able to do what e.g Elite Dangerous does, even though Starfield only uses an upgraded version of Gamebryo, a 25 y/o cell-based engine first used in 1999 for Prince of Persia 3D . . . Giants would need to switch to UE5 in order to achieve some of the things you want done. For instance, although I'd love it, AI farmers are impossible simply because of the sheer amount of splines that would be needed for each field. I mean, have you not noticed that, in maps, only 1 road/route is splined & populated?

When it comes to the story mode I like the idea of a more interactive tutorial which focuses on helping you learn the game and enjoy a story to go with it rather than.. Here is a harvester, press this to go, when get to point hire a worker, now here is a tractor.... A story will introduce the game better as well as add a sense of achievement. However it would be nice if Giants can make it so people can create their own stories and share with others via the mod hub. I know that would be a huge undertaking as that means creating essentially a "scenario editor" but it's a dream. As for most of the other suggestions I can back them hugely. However I think the number 1 spot won't happen, and not because of the amount of work that it will take to make it happen, more the fact that although Farming Simulator has the word Simulator in it, it is still and always will be a video game. Sure the hard core enthusiasts will love it, but for most, they play this game to relax and chill after a hard day's work, and the last thing that anyone wants is to have to worry too much about soil damage and the like. Not saying it shouldn't be an option, just I can see why Giants might not add such a feature.

8:30 re weather, over here in western australia we have certain conditions that result in frost. It occurs when its very close to 0c in the morning before sunrise and as the sun starts rising the temperature drops just below 0c and the dew on the crops freezes causing whole fields of crops to be destroyed by frost burn, the plants just die off. I am not 100% sure, but I think its more of a problem in early winter (which is June in Australia), when the crops are not that established. I have driven to my folks place in the country a few times and seen what I can only describe as swathed green plants, and the first time I saw it I asked my mother why the farmers had done that, and she said we had a bad lot of frost in certain regions and all the farmers can do is chop the crop down let it dry a bit and sell it as hay. Enabling frost mechanics for crops destruction would be awesome, although in real life it usually affects entire fields or big sections of farmland, and that wouldnt be fun in the game, so maybe they could tone it down a bit and make it effect patches of land. All those features would be nice, Dynamic ground and some form of at least damage modelling would make the game all that much more entertaining to play... But also what would make the game awesome to play is better pallet and object physics, where pallets dont just go rogue and launch your tractor and trailer into the stratosphere just because you may or may not have overloaded your trailer with 3x more pallets of flour than would be practical in real life.

One of the biggest things I would like to see is realistic costs and expenses. All the other games, once you build your farm, get your equipment and stuff, that’s really it. No need for money really. Pocket change. Throw in things like unexpected break downs that cost money, more realistic taxes and stuff. Just everything. For me at least, gives a reason to keep going. I’ve restarted countless maps because of this, I hit a point where I have everything I want, and more money than I know what to do with. Gets boring fast. Only way I find to kinda compensate is to put the economy on hard, but all that really does is slow down the process. Still gunna reach that point though💁♂️

Also more types of work we have Crops we have Forestry but what about PROPER Mining not that ore spawning mine building I'm talkin a quarry that you need to dig at with a mining vehicle load it into a sorting machine, to sort stones from ore, & lastly load up the ores for refining at the foundry then profit/productions with the various metals, along with Lime & concrete productions for all that raw stone.

As a plant pathologist, I'd LOVE to see pests and diseases expanded upon in the game. Nematodes on root crops, army worms, fungal diseases of grains. It would be awesome

At this point I am planning to skip the next version of the FS series if Giants doesn't either move to a better game engine or make some huge upgrades/updates to their current engine.

Honestly a random failed feature would be nice. Parts on a vehicle can fail at random some can be ignored like turn signals, or windshield wiper. But some you can like transmission, PTO etc

OMG I love that series, and it would definitely be awesome to have something like that in the game. Unfortunately I doubt that they will do it

There’s a couple mods that can somewhat do dynamic ground. For example there’s this mod I really like where if you’re in a field and your tires slip, it turns the ground underneath the tire to cultivated so it’s like you dug up the ground. If you try to pull something when your tractor doesn’t have wide enough tires, it starts spinning the tires and digs into the ground and mud start flying everywhere.

Giants should do a vote for the top 10 mods and try and add the best. Like what they did with seasons

All fantastic ideas!! All of them need to be optional though in the games menus. I dont want to be forced into anything, I want the choice to turn things on and off as I go. Like the crop dieseases and stuff.

I think physics needs a over haul. So does the entire animal system. Graphics need to be improved.

I like the story mode but you have different levels like the new comer, experience farmer, and like James in survival to play you have a loot o money and you want to start a farm. Hope is made sense

Apparently in the reveal trailer rice is the new crop type and it showed farmers flooding the field. Dynamic ground is possible, but I don't think with the giant engine at the time, now there is other kinds of engines now that have dynamic ground like construction simulator and farmers dynasty, which has dynamic ground, the help will come do your field drive off somewhere and sink into the ground.

I didn't get in in the poll in time, but I'd really like hand tools. Combine that with more historical equipment. Basically I'd love to work up "through the ages" of farming.

The fact that a story mode got as high as #2 i think shows how many ppl dont know what to do next or how to expand there farm. FS is pretty mutch a fully open world game with no story and i cant think of many games that dosent have an overall story. Even games that just show u goals to reach u could say has a story but your in charge of how your getting there. thats still a story becouse it gives u a goal to reach but it dosent care how u reach it. This story could be perfect as an introduction to the game instead of the very basic tutorial they tend to have. Instead u could do work on npc fields and get a better payout then normal to easier get into the mid range equipment which at the start imo is the hardest part of the game becouse your starting fields and gear are very small and even from basic gameplay the fields are so small that u will really struggle being able to buy anything bigger. Another thing could be for the player to accept grants i think they are called with a clear objective like sell Corn from a field that is atleast X hectar big or they may want X amount of crops to this buyer as they are running low and u got 2 years to do it. Ofc u will be getting a part of the payment upfront to help u get equipment u maybe dont have yet. Farmers getting yearly goverment funding is a real thing so offering optional jobs to the player is just like side quests in other games. Sure we have the npc contracts but your not working your fields your asked to do 1 specific thing there and becouse this new system i propose we use our own fields and are doing the full growing process so we would be getting paid alot more then the current contract system. This way u could spend money u other wise may not have hade knowing that after a year or 2 u will be making that money back and u now have a piece of equipment that u may other wise never have bought so its a win win scenario. Snow ploughing contracts if they are in FS25 needs a total overhaul from FS22 becouse some of them inside the production/sell areas were impossable to do becouse of all the fixes cars and containers inside the area we were supposed to clear. I liked doing them in the winter with seasons on as it was pretty mutch then only thing u could do if u dident have animals but they hade a massive flaw. Some of them were impossable to do becouse of all the fixed things inside the clearing area and u would never know that before accepting them. U dident need 100% cleared but even so there were some areas with so many cars/containers in the way that it was physically impossable to reach a completed stage.

With 22 Platinum bringing more options for woodworking and lumber milling, (speaking to dynamic ground) I would love to see a gold mine dlc come out with conveyers, excavators, wash plants, the works; maybe like a 25 Platinum or Premium

The story thing, I'd like a great story, how you explained it was basically just start from scratch but I'd like a hood story.

Better seasonal calendar. It's mid/late june and winter crops are being harvested. Some farmers can get beans in the ground the week after harvest.

In my opininio number 2 and 3 are realy great to combine that the farmers on their fields are characters in the story mode and that you have the possibility to talk to them to offer help or ask for help on your farm

Something that wasn't in your list... Better Mod management! When you have a couple of hundred mods, going through the list to pick and choose on a save is a pain.

wider range of old machinery and more realistic vehicle damage as well as realistic getting stuck in mud is seriously lacking in the current FS

Honestly a little surprised to see 'Menu Filters' so far down on the list. FS22 got overwhelming fast, with dozens of different machines of each type, with overlapping specifications.

Better steering physics. I'm playing FS22 and it's my intro to the franchise. I've never played FS before. One thing I noticed, on PS5 is the steering g of vehicles should get less touchy the faster you go, but it doesn't, so it's too easy to go flying off the road with just a slight tap on the steering at higher speeds.

I farm in ignorance of the community but it's reassuring to know we want the same things. I hope they listen brochacho's, apart from this whole story mode thing. Lets build the stage before we put on Of Mice and Men.

I would like to see a more realistic range of planting and harvest times I’m from Southeast Kansas, and we plant after wheat soybeans every year sometimes as late as July. Maybe they could add seed varieties to each crop that way you get different growth cycles and could plan better to get two crops in the same ground in one year.

Courseplay and Autoplay integrated. I can't believe they still don't do that after so many years those mods are out. These are essential features IMO.

Yeah weather affecting the crops would be perfect and is such big part of farming in real life

would be interesting if driving through a field would slow you down or cause damage. I feel like there is no reason not to blast through fields when there's no slow down effect or damage from large crops like corn.

A good suggestion could be have your own contracting business with people working for you full time but make it an option for you to do that
@Mustard19875 ай бұрын
Great idea. That's how I like to start a "start from scratch" game. Buy a ute and just drive around doing contract work... eventually buy a machine to do specific contracts...and save up to eventually buy your own bit of dirt
