What is the function of swathing rather than regular combining?

In the game, there might just be a small yield bonus. In real life though, it cuts and kills all the crop before a combine comes so it all dries evenly. Especially useful in uneven land.

@@fsfarmer1116 We used to have a farm in Alberta, just north of Red Deer, where we ran Macdon headers on our swathers. Was always a pain in the neck if it was a bit too windy and the swaths of canola got tangled up.

Honestly the swaths looked better in fs 15; they were more fluffy looking; while now the shadows on top of the jagged swaths look horrible. I mean modelling swaths is probably not easy but cant they just round the top of the swath a bit more off, so at least I am not baling pyramids?

It’s not a harvester, it’s a swather. It simply cuts the crop from the stalk and swaths it so it can be harvested separately. It’s designed to be functional which is why it looks like that
