For those of us hoping to make the transition to this lifestyle as well, a video like this is a real help. Would gladly watch them all, especially videos that cover the difficult things that you might not be aware of until you're living the life already.

My favorite thing is "All ducks go to bed!" I don't know why, but that short sentence says a lot. The geese are growing up. If you sit and read to them, they will come and listen. Always move slowly and never make a quick move. I remember my Aunt telling me that when she introduced me to her ducks. Aunt was a baker and as any hardcore baker will tell you, duck eggs are the best. (Grin) I could break a chicken egg and it was just, okay you broke one. However, break a duck egg and she would stare at you. It was awful. Your garden is looking fine, don't let the geese near it! I enjoy all your videos about the farm. Thanks for sharing. Hope you have a quacken great day.

Dude, get yourself an ATV mounted water tank (I have a 30 gallon for lots of diff use), or some serious water hoses on automatic-reels, hate to see you deal with this so often but is good exercise!!!

We have one. Ok probably the 5th one. Perfect for helping out young trees, taking water out to pasture, starting grass seed, watering the garden during drought, and you still pump water to the tank!

This was a great, entertaining and informative video. My favorite part of any Gold Shaw video is the delightful, clunky duck waddle as you release the quacken. They are adorable and I keep wanting to sit down in the field and enjoy their company. Thanks for continued views into your farm adventures...good and not so good.

I liked this format, and I love watching the ducks come out, when the camera's behind them and their waddling, I can't help but laughing out loud, and they are so excited to get out and around! We're planning on getting a small farm, I can hardly wait! Thank you for all the work you put into your videos, they always put me in a good mood!

Great to see a fellow 'farmsteader.' Your poultry look super healthy. As us quite rightly say 'duck muddy water instantly.' Some don't realise that ducks prefer to mix their feed with their water 😉

I'm on team hose as well. Our duck barn is about 300 feet from our house and when it's warm i just run a hose out there. It saves hours of time throughout the summer that I can spend doing other things. We still haul by bucket in the winter months, though.

quick tip: seed first then hay mulch dont compact just let settle, dont worry bout your birds sifting for the seeds it actually helps to spread the mulch. as for the cats stop feeding them next to the house and keep their food away from the house atm all your doing is enforcing the idea that house = food theyll still wanna cuddle and a pat but eventually they will get the idea and stop trying to break in

2x 5 gal buckets of water is roughly a combined 85 lbs, carrying them at your sides is a exercise aptly named the farmers walk. Good for upper back, core, shoulders, and forearms. Wouldn't bother with a network of water tubes unless you have a fear of becoming Hercules.

Just a thought about your cat allergy & allergies, in general... if you can get your hands on locally produced organic honey & eat some every day, it might help you. It'll take time... nature doesn't often work in "instant cures", right? =) The only provisos are that it's raw/unprocessed (not heat treated etc) & comes from the same area you're living in. You could read up on the theory behind all this... hope it helps in some way!

I used to clip my Muscovys wings, you only need to cut two feathers from the middle of one of their wings. They can still catch a fair amount of air, that way though. They'd be able to clear that fence with only two flight feathers clipped. I like the new format myself, it's, to me, more focused and to me, it's easier to follow. It's clearer, narrating the activities in this manner. Great content. Keep up the good work! בס״ד

Love it! Please don’t stop making videos, you are one of my favorite channels since I’m raising ducks and “was” raising Sabastopol geese until a raccoon wiped out the only 3 I had. I still have ducks but not getting more geese until I know they’ll be safe. 😟 So, I’m not starting that again until I’ve built a new duck/goose barn. For now I’ve found that I’m good at hatching, so I’m incubating eggs for people wanting to expand their flock. And I deep down seriously want to start a KZbin channel. Call it a dream that I hope I can make happen soon. ❤️ Thank you! Love you guys! Don’t stop, great work!! ❤️

Can you try rolling up the dirty hay and unrolling it on the field like it is sod? In the rainy season you could also set your buckets outside so they can ill even part way (for free).
