Yea i just realized this yesterday. You cant progress unless you level reset, might as well farm for new characters/weapons while getting catalyst blueprint from bad rng

I agree, playing the game organically makes it much more enjoyable, the very way you explained how your doing multiple things that benefit you is spot on to how i been playing, i am F2P mastery rank 21(legit not rolling against a wall or running in a circle) and just doing missions on hard leveling guns, each time i get enough kuiper to level a mod it means so much and i actually feel like in growing

The Valby run was a mistake by the devs that I took full advantage of. I don’t have to farm for gold and kuiper for a very long time now. 95mil 10mil kuiper. But I’m pretty sure the devs mainly nerfed it do to the exp gained. It was completely insane and would have broken their game if they kept it in. Why? This is a grinding game and I don’t have to grind for MR anymore it would hurt the longevity of the game. I’m MR 23 with all blue and purple weapons maxed out with all characters unlocked. So now I just farm for ultimate weapons and energy activators. It was something I planned on doing in the long on of the game and got it done in 3 days. Enjoy the grind….because I am

There's still a spot you can go from 1>40 in 12-16 minutes with almost zero effort... not sure they'll fix that for a bit unfortunately.

Ive been farming bosses for the set bonuses and if my math is right I’m collecting 1.5 mil gold an hour

That is not bad. Considering you are getting sets ready for builds and descendants whilst making some gold in the process. 1.5 is ok

@@AngryHatt opening relics at the same time too. Also 1.5 is going slow, I think a theoretical number is closer to 3. I’m running the gley massacre build but I’m sure lepic 10-20 second clears would achieve the same effect

As much as i want to agree with this concept. After unlocking everything in the game completely f2p and getting 7 weapons maxed out i can confirm there is still going to be a gold problem if you are not focusing on it. I can craft about 3 of each descendant with all the extra parts i have. But if i upgraded one of those descendants ide be broke.

Agreed . But you are the exception rather than the rule. Most people are likely not having more than one descendant maxed out. Besides, i do believe gold needs some balancing as a mod can cost upwards of 5mil.

​@AngryHatt I have only upgraded bunny and high voltage is the only transcendent mod I've touched. All gold I've gotten has gone to buying the duplicate blueprints for weapons and having a constant flow of upgrade materials going. You really don't get much actually playing the game. I could do a 4 min dungeon 20 times and make the same gold as in 3 minutes doing a glitchy mission.

@@Canadianbacnn i guess it all comes down to how long you want to play the game for. I would still argue to enjoy and take your time, but if you want bps and mats at this rate, yeah gold is going to be a major issue. Moreso in your case.

You’re spot on about the farming situation. I stop watching these types of content creators back in borderlands 3. I honestly think they only make content for themselves because most people work a job and can’t spent 18hrs grinding for a digital item in an online game regularly.

I feel you. Sometimes, the rng is just awfull. I would actually like to test if it's accurate. Farmed a 38% drop rate item for 27 times to see one drop. That felt more like a 5%

it's worst for some of these modules since it's a drop from a "Mission Monster" and it doesn't even show the % drop rate for it xD

Someone once said (Can't remember who) that given a chance players will optimize the fun out of a game. That's exactly what is happening in TFD right now. There is also the trend to establish a "perfect build", which is kind of stupid. Farming catalysts, leveling descendants and weapons over and over again so you are able to solo hard mode intercept bosses in under 1 minute may be fine for speedrun/challenge streamers/youtubers, but noone can tell me you need more then 3 or 4 catalysts per descendant/weapon to be viable in endgame. my hot take: All this "grinding" seems to just compensate for misunderstanding game mechanics.

This is what I've been doing in Warframe for a long time. Lvl up new stuff while doing something else. Farming materials of relics for example. Yes, I could rank up my new weapon in 5 minuts by doing the exp grind mission, but there is no fun in that imo. I wanna try out the new gun or stuff first, if its awfull I can always go to that mission.

I agree that the best thing to do is always "2 or more things at once". That said, farming patterns is the reason we need a good gold farm. Let's just say that farming gold & weapon components to craft them is a 1:1 ratio. You earn the same amount of gold that you require while farming the weapon components to craft the complete weapon. This means that after farming and crafting a single weapon, we have earned exactly enough gold to craft the weapon. However, we also got kooper for leveling our mods... We didn't earn enough gold to level our mods... If we spent the gold earned while farming the weapon on leveling mods... we won't have enough gold to craft the weapon. Gold is basically 2:1:1 for crafting and leveling mods. The reason people want the "best gold farm" is so that they can more evenly distribute that ratio. Furthermore, there are a significant number of tasks that do not reward gold or kooper. Farming Void Shards is an example. If you spend 3 hours collecting void shards to open the patterns you collected... that's 3 hours of time spent that did not reward any gold. You will get "some" gold while opening the void reactors & colossi... but, only a fraction of the amount you would get "farming gold" somewhere with a good drop rate.

The ratio makes sense yes. But doesn't readjust itself once you finished maxing out mods? How many times are you going to max your HP def and power mods? Not to mention soon people will have every descendant and every mod maxed. And then, what? This game becomes like destiny even quicker. I'm just trying to say we should enjoy the ride more and focus less on min maxing the living hell out of everything. Not that i disagree things should be more in balance (gold end game and kuiper early game).

@@AngryHatt - There are 4 "battle" & "attack" mods per character (most of which don't overlap). There are 4-6 transcendental mods per character (which cost 5,155,000 gold "per"). There are 4 ammunition types, all of which have the same or similar mods that need to be leveled separately. It's not a "dozens of hours" type of grind. It's a "hundreds" or "thousands" of hours request. And that is before additional content (which sounds like it's coming every 2 months).

@@AngryHatt - I didn't say that it taking more than a week was a problem. I said that the ratio of drops is off by an exponential factor. I've got 260+ hours in the game and I just keep hitting my head against the limitations of gold drops per hour. By the time I've unlocked all the characters, I'll have a pile of kooper probably 10 million + and still never enough gold to do anything without farming more of it. The original post was to explain that it's short sighted to say that players shouldn't be looking for "the most efficient use of time to farm gold etc..." I stand by it, and you seem to want to continue to rant that you just don't care about the imbalance. That's fine. But, I'm going to stop giving you interactions now...

I simply try to have fun with what i have. Might have come across as ranty. 🤣 but yeah let's agree to disagree. We don't play the game in similar ways and that's fine. I believe fun should be the main factor (which was my original point). And runing in circles seems boring.

the point in doing the circles was so you never had to farm for gold ever again and now everybody can target farm mods, weapons and descendants because we set ourselves up with 200m gold and 50m kuiper

I must say I agree however there is a time and place for farming. I went a bit ham for a day on the valby farm to get the gold i needed to max some mods and gather some xp to complete a build. There should be balance between farming and progressing but just sitting there farming 100m gold is not healthy for the game or the player.

Love your take bro I'm right there with you it's a pve game so I dnt see the need to power level for power.... I grind things you only get on normal with my new characters till they level up enough to unlock the 4th then go to hard all while grinding for parts I need didn't understand why people run around with leveled guns and leveled descendants but than again I'm trying to level everything so I know what weapons I like while pushing master rank so I dnt waste material on things only to find I like another gun better so my goal is to get and level everything while collecting mushrooms and rings so when I'm done I can upgrade the weapons and characters I know I ENJOY PLAYING not what is meta for circle grinds or staring at a wall jumping up and down lol

I use the farms to upgrade modules in a pinch, otherwise I’m farming catalyst mats and pre planning for next builds for characters I don’t have yet. I overtook friends that had weeks on me and I’m much more proficient with my character.

Kuiper at some point becomes quite useless. The gold is a much more precious resource. I kid you not havent spent a kuiper in days, but gold has become the issue now😁. Don't worry to much about it. Mods only need to be maxed once😎

​@@simplify3621 must be because of how I play maybe.... my friends already farther then me and he started after me... yet he has trouble defeating devourer only beat it once and Ive beat it many times... I mainly just farm for mods and research matterials for characters.. That grappling mod in the last mission in kingston the rng hates me.. I've run that mission more than any other mission in the game, even with perks to increase the mod drop rate still no luck, I still try that mission a few times a day guess i will get it when i get it. Probs the reason my kuiper is so low, but I got 10 catalyst blue prints from doing that mission so much so thats a bonus, game got so boring running that mission on repeat, and its much more enjoyable playing a variety of missions

In my opinion it's the players who farm all the time that are the main ones complaining about the rewards being hard to get. Maybe they should play the game the way the devs intended, instead of looking for quick and easy ways to max out everything.

OLD games are meant to be fun. The "popular" KZbinrs have sold their souls to greedy game developers, and are legitimately HYPNOTIZING viewers into thinking they need the best everything as fast as possible. I am enjoying the game for its potential, and in the process I've seen videos of these guys making these farm workarounds and pretend they are enjoying it as much as other games this one has stolen its concepts from with MANY minor problems. Madness.

I'm worried about running out of gold, just got the transcendent mod I been looking for, got lucky combining mods. I just know how much it is gonna cost, so yeah I'm dreading the gold farm for it. But I can only run in a puddle for so long before I crack!!!

I don't know if I agree with the issue being the farm. I think the issue lies with the rate that those resources are provided. By creating those bottle necks (XP, gold, kuiper) they slow down the progress of the game dramatically in order to encourage shortcuts (purchasing with real money). It preys on players desire to maintain a specific pacing in game and the limited time some players have to play the game so they can make some sales or increase time in game. I.e. you want to level quickly to be able to reset your character but you spend all your time leveling so now you need more time to farm catalyst or you spend money so you can bypass that wait and get back to leveling to rinse and repeat

I see your point. But, why do you want to level up quicker? The faster you get to endgame the faster you burn your desire to play. Everyone obviously plays their own way, but the mindset of doing everything today and paying for faster progress is why we have these bottlenecks in the first place. Businesses are very good at understanding people and give them what they want sure. Don't buy and don't rush and the game becomes a lot better i think. Just my 2 cents.

@AngryHatt I agree. I see plenty of videos complaining about endgame, yet here I am still on the main story and taking my time with unlocking characters. Still have plenty of fun with the game and Ultimate Valby is around the corner. I have a lot to look forward to.

@@AngryHatt personally, I enjoy the difficult content. I understand and respect that ppl want to savour the journey and for some that is where the value lies. I picked up this game specifically because I enjoyed the colossus fights. For me, the rest of the game enables me to be effective in those fights with friends and randoms. Which is why the bottlenecks are more of a deterrent than a perk. And honestly if I burn thru the content then I burn thru it, pick up another game, come back when they drop more content. I think that's a healthier cycle than forcing players to slow down in order to extend engagement time with your game. To add, I don't play games I don't enjoy. I play TFD because I enjoy it. I jus think there can be improvements

Asking us to respect the time the developers put into the game is pretty damn ironic for a game that doesn't respect our time. Farms are great for a lot of resources in a short amount of time, I do agree that spending time to measure your earnings per hour is also a waste. Just get in, get what you need plus a little extra, then go do something more constructive.

Nah. It's way more efficient to target farm what you need, then go back to the XP farm spots. You're part of the reason why most pub frost walker groups just keep wiping until someone like me comes in to carry. Just bad advice all around.
