I have a failed barley crop in head. Still green can be made to silage. I am concerned that cattle won’t like the hairy heads of barley and get stuck in throat? What’s your experience

Sorry to hear about your barley crop.. There are a few of those around here as well. We always try to use "smooth awn" varieties when our crops are destined for a forage crop. If your variety is NOT a smooth awn, you can still sell it to someone that is going to chop or process the feed in a prepared ration, such as a TMR mixer or pit silage.
