The farmers share of a loaf of bread is 5 cents. Ingredients are the smallest part of grocery prices. Freight, insurance, labor, utilities will not go down

And farmers now have to sell into a middleman system so they can never see a retail profit.

Unfortunately small regenerative type farms just can’t make it, regardless of the number who are encouraged to try. The whole system is designed by corporate big ag that make the laws and regulations to favor only corporate ag. The prime act in the new bill would free the non subsided small farmer to use local state inspection instead of corporate owned usda. Your grocery store could someday offer the local guys chicken next to Tyson’s. And the farmer would get the same retail profit as Tyson. Imagine that. First change the unfair ag laws, get corporate capture out of the usda. And get welfare programs separated from the farm bill.
