Love the Hudson. Even though it's probably impossible, I firmly believe in the KISS rule. That thing would be worth a mint if it had a full factory restoration. But at the same time, I've always been a fan of the Caddy 501 and 472. The best 501 was in the '69 El Dorado making 1 horsepower per cubic inch. Stock, that engine would move that thing very nicely. I know someone that put one in a '51 Mercury and it's freakin quick. Not too bad on fuel and dependable as hell.

Build a reliable pump gas sleeper. For starters, pick up a ZZ6 350 (405horses). Add either a twin screw or roots supercharger along with a blow thru carburetor set up to handle the forced induction. Plenty of room behind the rear fenders to add some larger tires. An exhaust with an electric cutout. Let it purr when your not ready to roar. Such a cool project and it could still cruise cross country.

Bad to the Bone like a sled. A cruiser for sure. Going to need some torque but N/A old school, A/C, working radio, fairly quiet so you can hear all the people comment while you drive by, comfy ride and interior. Its a head turner guys. Looking forward to seeing this build progress.

I love Hudsons, neat cars, ahead of their time. I seem to remember someone on a Hudson forum saying that a Jaguar XJ 6/12 was nearly a perfect fit wheel base-wise. That'd be a fun swap, triple side drafts on a Jag inline 6 with dual exhaust would sound cool. & 80/90's Jags are cheap as hell too.

Your "regular" restomod program- CV front susp for good driver control, ride, disc brakes and new parts- the Caddy engine, any cheap iron block LS (you aren't likely to ever make this car light!), trans to suit- for driver/cruiser, auto is the only way to go, an all modern AC and heat program, repop a late mod rear axle with disc brakes. The interior is a matter of budget and taste- I'd try for near stock or a tuck and roll from back in the day! And the minimum repairs to fix real rust and such, then semi gloss clear is and smile, smile every time you start her up! FR PS; Now we built my car, we really want to see YOU TWO build this car- I see a really great series coming out of this! Just called a friend about the Chevy truck- you may get a call sooner than you think! FR

Somewhere I have a photo from around 1957 standing in front of my dads Hudson Hornet, wearing cowboy boots and hat and holding my toy Rifleman Winchester. By around 1958 or 59, being a family man with 3 children, he traded it in on a metal flake green 1955 Ford Ranch Wagon. Since the 55 Ford Wagon is the first car of my dads I actually remember, since I was too young to remember the Hudson, that's what I always wished I could find / afford to get to restore. Those years are a bit fuzzy in my memory as I've kind of tried to block them out. During the Civil Rights Movement and under the guise of desegregation I was sent to an all black school, and got my ass beat most every day for being white.

They sent me to a school across town too. I hated it. I wanted to commit suicide. Then my moms boyfriend helped me put a jet engine in my Mustang. He worked for NASA and got one of the lunar module rocket engines out the back door. Man, the chick's really dug me.

Caddy 500 mat a 700R4 for cruzin ford 9” to take the extra power and you will have a daily with fair mileage if you want to drive out of town, the way it sits is perfect 👍 oh and bags for some rough roads, should be able to come up with a newer front end components just in case for easy access to parts. Looking up the hornet, Hudson hornet from cars was a 51, the car was only made from 1950-1954 so it might not be a hornet, it could be a commodore as that was released in 49 or it could just be the super 6, with that being said also reading the Hudson's were great for drag racing due to the power weight ratio, ran NHRA trials can't wait to see the end result, hopefully you do build videos
@FarmtruckandAZN3 жыл бұрын
Doing build videos with this car is the plan!
@cleetusmcdougle46093 жыл бұрын
Love everything you guys do, if it's not an actual hornet you just might be able to find parts from other Hudsons since I'm pretty sure mechanically In the 40s they were all the same due to the war, it's one of the few eras that don't have many cars manufactured due to car makers helping the government, but with Hudson's being great drag an NASCAR's, its probably just as hard as we you guys went looking for Azns nova

300 6 banger ford , add some upgraded heads , maybe a small cam upgrade and add some headers for 270 hp 335 ft lbs or add a small turbo and bump that hp by 200 + hp and tq by 200 ft lbs + depend on your needs but let the tourque do the work . Just a manual 4 speed or 5 speed depending on rear gear for a smooth cruiser . Check out Powernation's motor build .

I really like the Hudson. That's a super cool car. Since the body is in such good shape it would be really cool to put it on a modern frame and used a modern drivetrain. I bet you could even redo the interior to use modern components but look original. A straight up street car is cool but If I'm being honest, it's got to be FAST if it's a Farm Truck and AZN build.
