Am your neighbor here from Kenya. I just started small too with 50 birds. That was my little savings while in campus. I really lobe farming though i specified under medicine department in campus. Am hoping to work for 1 or 2 years and I can go full in chicken rearing too. You are really such an inspiration to me. Keep up the good work Dr.

Here in Philippines a finer net is used around the structure to prevent flies from entering. Flies are one of the number one problems in poultry farm here. I think that is not the case in your place so maybe that would work. Hoping for your success in this endeavour.👍💪

Make sure you keep watch on the wood the acidity of the chicken poop will eventually rot away the wood and for the rain if you had buildings side by side you could control the wind problem but if you don’t want to build side by side you could plant trees around to use as barriers against the wind

Hey thanks for sharing your knowledge! The only things that comes to my mind is the risk of having a fire. All that wood in your structure would make the damage devistating. In one blow you could lose everything. My opinion on the differend levels of floors: I think that is something that can be used as a BIG advantage. If every level is open, you can use water and gravity to clean from the top up to the bottom. You then can collect and use ALL that poop as a fertilyser for growing crops OR gras for the chickens to eat.

This is great. Consider the effect of humidity on the smooth flow of food from the top. Once you open the feeds, they become humid and that affects their properties and how they interact with the plastic tube.

This poultry farm house was well thought out , designed and built with creativity by the farm owner/investor. I guess the capital cost could be quite less as compared to a more automated poultry house with slat flooring. I am very impressed with this creative inovation that is why I have been following the Farm Up Poultry documentary, watching in from Papua New Guinea in the South Pacific.

A true inspiration! thank you for sharing your work. I have one question. When constructing the second floor, how did you fix the timber/wooden pillars to the concrete pillars below? I mean how are they joined together? and how strong is the joint. I am concerned if a strong wind/storm can separate the wooden pillars from the concrete pillars bellow. Thanks again.

The cracks between the wood slats on the second floor flooring are going to be very difficult to get clean and sanitary between batches of birds. You need to find a way to make the floor up there SMOOTH before you put birds and bedding up there.
