Great video, although I miss the thermal :) Those are some well fed rats judging from their size, they surely didn't expect your visit that night as they seem so careless, I think they will be more cautious as you cull their population.

Good shooting. I saw a ratting video where the shooter was using a .25cal. rifle shooting 35gr. slugs. The .35gr. slugs seemed very effective and the rats usually dropped where hit.

There’s nothing better than hearing that thud 👍. I use my thermal spotter when going on the pick up, there’s always rats you can’t find without it. My pick up grabber is the stainless steel reptile type. The ones with the hooked end and hole. The hook bit goes through the hole. Once rat grabbed, you can pull it through any hole 😉. I have the 4K pro with abl. tbh, it’s good enough for the job 👍. Newly subscribed 👍

Howdy from Sacramento! Great shooting! When I'm out shooting ground squirrels, I use a handheld clicker counter. I keep it on a lanyard around my neck and click it for each confirmed kill. I also use the Shockey shooting sticks like yours- very stable platform. Thanks for sharing!

Counting your empty ammo holders would also give you an idea of how many you shot, would it not?

@sailorgerard that's how I track shots fired. Then I compare against the clicker for kills and calculate a kill %. Just got back from a few days shooting in Northern California - 1217 shots fired w the 17hmr, 588 confirmed kills. Not bad IMO given the wind can blow at 10 - 15 mph up there. Also killed 18 w the pistol. I hope to post some scope cam footage soon. Cheers!

You don't know their equipment or their procedures and if I were the farmer I would expect that. Looks like you'll be back in the near future.
