I really think Faron never lost it in his final years , he was always in control . That’s why he did as he chose . He wanted to clock out and he did . He left many many fans with sadness but he knew what was best . What a voice never again .

John Ireland' ,I wholeheartedly agree with your comments, I got to see Faron at church street station in 1979 while on a country music crawl around the states I am so glad that I have these wonderful memories of the greats of country music, something we will never see the likes of again, what they try to pass off as country today is just crappy and should never be compared to what we are listening to here, cheers from Tasmania

One of the most wonderful things about Faron Young, he always changed things up a bit when performing live. There was never any doubt, people knew he was actually singing!

I loved his voice so much I travelled alone miles in a coach to see him when he appeared in concert 50+ miles away. Wonderful and glad I made the effort. Such a sad end to his life and guess he never realised how many people loved his singing. Linda

Thanks so much for posting! The high point of my life was getting to see him perform live in St. Charles, Illinois in the 80's. At Max's Silver Pheasant. I even got to thank him and shake his hand and buy him an adult beverage. A truly special memory! I consider myself extremely fortunate. I also got to see Merle, Vern, Conway, and George Jones at the State -Lake Theater in Chicago with my Dad and his best friends just before Conway passed. I'll never forget that show. It don't get much better than that! Hope you all get to to see all your heroes live!

Listening to this music takes me back to the tines when I was young and had a old but shiney car with the radio blasting country music all the time. I am getting old now at 84 yrs. but listen to this type of music all the time. The sad part of listening to this is that I have outlived all the great artist.

The first concert I ever saw. He came out to the sticks. Madison County Fair in 1969. Three weeks before Woodstock...held a couple of hours southeast. Was eight years old, and remember it well. He played after the tractor-pull. :-)

My neighbor "Bob" (inside joke, please allow me) was named after Faron. He's 65. His pregnant mother and husband were out in California, I think, and Faron was playing and danced with the mother. She was so in awe she told Faron she would name her baby after him regardless of the sex. From my perspective, she could have named him Willie or Hank but Faron Young ruled in those days. Check out the chords his guitar accompanist is playing. That's not light weight tender and Faron's voice is superlative. Bob/Faron, my neighbor, needs to break out those guitars and start playing. It's never too late. It's never the goal your after, it's the journey.
