I believe Faron may have been hiding his depression with his amazing sense of humor. The highlight of this clip is when he jokingly asks the viewers to send dates and we'll work for money. He and his counterparts of the 1950's and 60's generation were being shoved further and further into the back corner and didn't have very much, if any significant relevance in the genre by 1991. (Which is extremely unfortunate) I think this ultimately led to his severe depression and feeling of betrayal by Nashville. He also mentions the new stars of the current time period, and their salaries, lifestyles, etc... The times had changed immensely in the 30+ years since Faron had started out, and it was really the very very early stages of the demise of what we now know as country music. I cannot imagine what Faron Young would be thinking in 2017, because it is such a shame what has happened to the music that both he and I, love. Bless you, Faron and rest in peace.

I had a steak dinner with faron at his bar in Nashville he came to my table and sit down and I had no idea who he was a few minutes later the band ask him to come up and sing and I said u mean they will let u sing in here and he smiled and said sometimes they do when he came back to sit down I looked at him and I said may I ask why u have one yellow sock and one green sock on. He laugh and said honey I'm color blind. Anyway it was a fun and lovely eve.

Country music today. The occasional hints at a banjo, maybe the whine of steel guitar in the back, and a slight drawl...that's about the only thing that really separates it from pop. It just doesn't have the soul or the grit that country music used to have. There's good country being made today, just don't expect it at the Opry or on your local radio station.

I my humble opinion, Faron ranks up there with Marty Robbins, and Jim Reeves. Faron was an incredibly talented singer. He was such a personable and well liked guy, something awful must have driven him to commit suicide.

Absolutely hilarious interview with the Young Sheriff taking full control of the proceedings - what a man who was so talented and a magnificent performer.
