The media keeps bringing up the late bus like that's a reason why they lost. It's been asked multiple times. lol They lost because the Boks, out scrummed you, out tackled you, out manoeuvred you, out kicked you and out scored you. Fair play to the English team and Eddie shutting that down instantly.

@D G Sometimes the occasion just gets to players. Sinckler getting KO'ed was a blow for sure. Ultimately I think the quality of the Boks bench was the deciding factor. Even though England played one less match (Typhoon) the Boks forwards were fresher because Rassie was able to rotate them more and spread out playing time amongst the team. The Bomb squad's quality didn't hurt either.

I dont think England or Eddie should in any way feel bad about this result. They did phenomenally well throughout the tournament, they dis-assembled the All Blacks in the most spectacular way. Perhaps this was their fall down, because I am sure that Rassie and the SA couching team analysed that game and worked out strategies to combat, in a targeted manner, what they did to the AB’s. Being the 2nd best team in the world, after what has been traditionally Southern Hemisphere dominated times, is a supreme effort.

Penalty advantage gets measured in meters made. Scrum advantage gets measured in ball retention ro the same position. Makes sense though because a penalty kick wins you 40'meters with a throw in.

Rules are that you have to advance forward to get an advantage, the Bokke didn't let them have an inch and pushed the English back. As a proud SA supporter, it was frustrating but fair.
@interestedbystander1964 жыл бұрын
@@Elneamo Agreed. Frustrating from an England perspective too, to be honest. There has to be a reasonable time limit on what constitutes an advantage attempt. But rules iz rules. I thought the Bok defence was spectacular, and not just in that game, but throughout the tournament. I think they had the best defensive stats of any team? So all the folks talking about why did De Klerk keep kicking the ball away: I think SA were fine with it. There was (sometimes) a chance to regather, but for the most part they had trust in that defensive line. Basically, "you can have the ball, but you're not getting through." Wonderful stuff. As an ex centre, good defence is a thing of particular beauty for me.

To all the England players, coaching staff and supporters you can be so proud of what you have accomplished. You gave the world this wonderful game we all love and today you have shown class, grace and all the principles of rugby in defeat. I am a South African and I would like to thank you for being so gracious and humble. I know I will not be able to understand the hardship and pain you are currently feeling but, honestly for what you have delivered this world cup was just awe inspiring from beautiful running rugby to defeating the All Blacks. This is not the end. Take it from a South African and a die heart Springbok supporter you will come out stronger from this. The Springboks lost against Japan then Italy the Argentina drop to a all time low on the World rankings to seventh. Keep on grinding keep on fighting and stay with the principles of this wonderful game and you'll get to where you want to be. We are looking forward to the British and Irish Lions tour and to the rematch. All of the best and just stay with Eddie Jones. Regards Springbok supporter

DONOVAN KEYS what’s funny to me here, is that literally everybody was saying they are not going to use their “kick blueprint” but they still prepared for it. And then the game came and they did not use it just as predicted. Regardless, I do feel that a lot of people expected England to win, in fact, i think even the English team and their coach thought they would win, and South Africa used it to their advantage.. I’m extremely proud of my country🇿🇦♥️ Nobody in the world except South Africans know what this truly means to us. It’s like a ‘95 all over again, but this time I was alive to be apart of it

May be unpopular opinion but Eddie, the coaching camp and players were arrogant around their power game and thought they’d push right over SA. You’d think Eddie would know better from his wallaby coaching days but the Boks forwards are the strongest in the Southern Hemisphere. Plus their forwards bench is arguably better than the starters. English forwards were rattled they couldn’t get over the gain line and kept getting smashed back tackle after tackle. Add a scrum being monstered for 90% of the game and that’s the ball game. SA defence won the game, missed just 14 tackles from 160 says it all. Eddie a great coach but potentially a little arrogant about their power game against the Boks who eat that stuff up.

Eddie Jones is great , we lost down to the Boks dominance at the scrum , their three point penalties gave them the momentum. Put us on the back foot. Our backs never got the ball and when they did their defence was solid.
@peteryoungpeteryoung9654 жыл бұрын
Jones is not as good as you think. I have never seen an English scrum so dominated. You also lost at the breakdown, lost the kicking game, lost in the air and line out, and failed to defend a couple of tries. A pretty comprehensive defeat I would suggest. For a team to play like England did against the ABS, then a week later get totally dominated shows an alarming lack of consistency, that's down to the coach.

As a South African I had been watching the 'Big Players' this past year in the run-up to RWC, and with the possible exception of Scotland (no judgment mates, you should have had your chance to play out for the quarters) all the 5 Nations teams looked likely candidates to make it to the quarter finals. Both NZ(of course!) and Australia as well. Japan came along and stunned everyone with their incredible performance throughout this tournament. Our play-off with the Brave Blossoms was arguably our most difficult hurdle to cross. All in all though; I think Rassie's management of the amount of time our individuals spent in play might have made a difference to the freshness of the guys on the day. Any of the above teams could have pulled it off; I was never certain of our chances all the way through. I'm just very relieved we made it!
