It's a good light fighter, not so OP as the previous patch but still a solid ship. I just can't get over the "bird fighters for bird people" aesthetics and start thinking why human fighters are not space mecha every time I see one.

I felt the same about this ship. While I owned it, I felt like it had more viability toward a pilot with more pinpoint control and reaction than I had to offer it. Though I chose to upgrade to other options I can see where the potential is in the Talon for the right person.

Another former owner here, i also agree. I upgraded to an ares as i like medium-heavy stuff. But i kept a shrike, because a stealth missle boat is fun.(when the missles stop blowing it up)

Noite from the future: The Talon is the first alien fighter to have internal storage. Just go to the front like you're going to board and check the inner thought that lists the access prompts.

Power plants are pretty universal right now in 3.14. That is why everyone goes stealth components now, as they all the same powerwise. Could go back to not powerful enough when they balance out coolers and power plants in a future patch

I love this ship. Combine the -30 modifiers to all Signatures with Fixed S4 Canons and you have an excellent stealth smiper for Bounty Missions.

I'm really not sure how this compares now days against the other light fighters. Earlier patches it was godlike but just like everything it had to stop and received pretty heavy nerfs.

I like this ship with fixed 4 hardpoints. Also the alien shields are a plus. I'm no grand fighter myself but I am considering to get this ship, maybe instead of the Gladius. Don't rightly know.. Also I had no idea about the little compartment under the cockpit! what a nice touch! Edit: I think we're both similar in fighting capabilities. Which would you prefer in medium bountyhunter fights or in general: buccaneer or talon?

@@Farrister Right, I'm Upgrading the Gladius to the Talon. Gladius is great, easy to get and is very zippy. But the Talon runs circles around the gladius. It's tougher so you can make it up for a bit less firepower. But the devil's in the detail: Buttons! not just mindlessly waving your hand infront of a Kinect-like interface to pop open compartments. Also the Titanfall'esque type of cockpit is great: just turn it off during warp for a quick nap! It's stupid and dumb, but this really made my dish out the money for it: that stupid little cubby on the starbord. This game is a simulation, and if this was real life, I would love to stash some stuff away. And when ejecting it comes with you!

Nice review of this ship Farrister. Unfortunately, I've never flown it or for that matter I haven't even been in one. I have access to one this month. I like the styling of it. It's interesting. I just haven't gotten into the alien designed ships at all. The Nox is pretty much the only one in my fleet that is not really human designed. I've flown a few different alien designed ships and frankly I found them lacking to my taste of things. Give me a Cutlass Black, Arrow, Sabre, or Gladius and I'm happy. Take care, fly safe and I'll see you in the verse.

Great video, Farrister. I love the handling of the Talon ship. Although I've noticed that it's even more of a fragile ship now (in 3.14) than it was in previous patches. Was there something done to it's hull rating?

Might be due to the big combat balance that's taking place, where all shields and weapons have the same stats during this process. I don't think it's affecting hull HP but I have no idea. (And by doing the same damage, I mean within the same sizes)

Not a fan of this ship, and most light fighters. Using a HOTAS, the movement is too sensitive. The Tana is my preferred light fighter, it is better with aiming.

@@Farrister I'm intrigued as to what your problem is? I'm a heavy DCS player with my TM warthog hotas but with SC I can't even get the throttle working properly sadly but maybe one day they'll make it easier to bind and get working. What's the issue you're having on SC?

been away a while and hopped on to start bounty missions and thought this was a perfect tool to make it fun. straight away it couldn’t make the first jump distance. not sure how to make that work for me. kinda a bummer. you said the burst? is that the faster or farther. still new to upgrades

Does the talon still loose it’s wings easily in combat effectively making it impossible to fly? I imagine worse now given shield changes in 3.14. Also, such a waste leaving gimbals on an agile ship like that, the whole point is it’s much easier to keep on target with fixed on a ship like that, also gimbals are a disaster this patch.

If you just lost 1 wing, you can coax it back to base (if you're patient). If you power off the engines completely, eventually, somehow, it stops spinning and then you can continue.

I love both Talons, but bought mine right before a heavy nerf... So I dropped it and waiting for a better point in time! And right now, with the Master Modes debacle, its probably not the time to try... I consider your review obsolete and probably not worth redoing till Master Modes are done.
