I am amazed at the Pakistan’s judicial system about withdrawal or termination of attorneys during the active trial. I am a legal practitioner myself and practice in USA. Professor Butt Sahib has given a very elaborate background of this whole trial. However, I am surprised at two things. 1. Attorney Butt was never terminated in this case and he stayed in this case until the very end? Did he file a review or appeal against this blood money issues? No jail warden or sentry could have terminated his representation. Only his clients can terminate his representation and that too in front of a judge and for valid reasons. They could not have accepted and the judge signed off on this settlement without the consent and participation of Attorney Butt. This decision of settlement of blood money is invalid without the participation of two (plaintiffs< because this is a criminal case, ideally, it should have been prosecuted by the state). Attorney Butt kept quite, accepted the fait accompli and only attended the press conferences-that was not fair and totally unworthy of a conscientious lawyer like.

Butt sahib didn't lodge appeal or review as our dear ISI had taken oath to free Raymond. So no matter what this honourable chap could do would bear no result. So khamoshi ikhtiar for peace sake.
