It is time to stop cowing around! because the old saying is right an apple a day will keep the doctor away! and you get more ant with honey than vinegar! puns aside cows are not to be underestimated, harvested for milk, meat, hide and tallow they, power your soap, shoe, hide coat and a good chunk of your food supple. The arborist planting apples, pears and peaches give you the ability to grow the fruit need to keep your people healthy. last but not least the apiary passively yielding honey and wax, these items are the backbone of two luxury items you people demand, beer and candles!

For the apiaries, instead of placing them centrally in the fields, there are two empty squares in each crop field you can use. That's where I place mine. Sure, sometimes they're not centrally located, but when you have several adjacent fields there's bound to be a few that allow the bee coverage area with no dead spots

I found that putting one in the two empty squares still lowered the crop yield by the same amount as if I put them in the middle of the field. with about 500 people I have them plastered around my settlement and am getting about 500~600 honey and wax a year. if you have gardens as decor, they boost the Hive a massive amount...

I place apiaries inside the village. With all the housings and decorations you get a decent yield and they only take 1 square - so fit in well as a filler.

LOL I am up to ~700 people in this city, and with the apiaries I have I make 1500 honey and 1500 wax a year, be careful not to overdo it, only so many traders will buy beer, honey and candles, thank you for watching.

do you know why sometimes herders wont slaughter cattle? when the stable is over populated, even confirm slaughters dont work when this happens,

Sorry I'm still a little confused about cow grazing - do you need to build a crop field for them to graze? In your video you had a crop field where it looked like you placed the grazing area but then after you did that the field appeared to disappear. Or did you remove the field because of bugs? How do you ensure they graze where you planted your trees?

I removed the field, I just edited it out to cut down on the length of the video. I only put the field in to show that it will allow you to put the graze area on a fresh field but after a reload the field bugs out and will not let you use it as a graze area, Patch .75 dropped today I will have to check to see if that is fixed in the new patch,

The bug I found is that you eventually get a message saying there is no fodder. There are all the materials available to produce fodder and plenty of people to do it but it just seems to stop happening. This is a general problem I find with the game in general. You are travelling well and then all of a sudden it is like people just stop doing things. They get unhappy then they do even less. Then you are basically screwed. There is also the fact that these are the laziest villagers I have ever seen. They complain about cleanliness and want soap. I have two factories with 4 people each, so eight workers. They only manage to make 50 bars between them in a year. That is ridiculous. These things need to be adjusted.

After a reloading the game, the barn looks to bug out. I stopped my series of the game because, I have a very middle of the road computer and I was running into major lag and studders in the games performance. I also agree with you that things need to be adjusted but up and down in different productions as some building will produce so much 1 person can fully staff a 4-person building and others 4 people can barely produce anything. I see this being the next big city builder if they can fix the major issues before their 1.0 release.

How the heck do I store fodder for my cows in winter?

I find it a little tricky, I put farms past the barn and put the storage on the opposite side of the barn from the farms. in the farms I grow buckwheat clover one season, turnips and clover the next and bean and clover the last, this is a fertility positive set up and will not require compost to get to 100%. the fodder is root vegetable and grains. I also put 2 people in the barn. it seems to help quite a bit but on the official forms they have stated the barn has a few bugs. thanks for watching and commenting!

@@APH3343 Thank you! telling my markets to not stock root veggies also helped to stock the barn and then I got them again. I appreciate this video! It helped me realize the milking disabled/enabled bug and I would have never discovered that. I don't pay that much attention xD

when i clicked on the Apiary it shows some yellow zones and when i take it there the effectiveness is way higher.. what does that mean? like best shows near houses and parks

A trader. I suggest finding one that sells them at normal or below market price. They are EXPENSIVE when the trader is selling at a premium.

I see Mortessa go you before I did, found in the trader they can be very expensive but well worth it. on a good season you can get them for 400 gold each on a bad season I have seen them as high as 800 gold. you will need 2 to make them reproduce and even if you have to pay 1600 for 2 in the long run it is well worth it. I think I goofed in this vid, because I put it in the trade vid and the farming vid I think it passed my mind to put it in this vid nice catch. if .75 build bring changes to the barn or arborist will remake the video and include the changes. Good catch!

Can you plant three orchards each with differnt trees and then move the arborists area of effect to the one being harvested or does the arborist also have to contantly attend the orchards to keep em healthy?

The state of my game, I have 700 people going strong, with 16 arborists... There are two harvest times between the 3 trees, I would think that you could do Peaches as an early harvest and apples or pears as a late harvest. I do know if you plant a fruit tree out of the work area it will get planted so I am not sure if the labor, builder or arborist plant them. I think as a minmax you could do two areas per arborist to double production...

can you explain how to put the cows in the barn right after you buy them? because on my city i built the barn then bought the cows, now they show the cows are in my settlement inventory but i can figure out how to get them into the barn to use them

in patch .74 there is a bug that if there are gates between the barn and the trading post they will not go to the barn, the patch note for .75 states this is fixed but I have not checked to see if it is fixed yet. if you are still on .74 delete the gates. If they are still in the trading post you hit the transfer button and drag the slider to the settlement side, when you escape it will ask what barn to put it in. Good catch because I covered buying cow in both my farming guide and trading guide I (Done) missed the step about buying cows all together is this guide, if .75 changes or fixes barn be on the lookout for an updated vod! thank you for watching and commenting!
