Hi Drae, you can select all your villagers by dragging a box around them. You can then tell them to move or attack. It works the same with the soldiers once they are out of the barracks.

In the top right hand corner of the screen, there is a little blue icon (second one over). That sets auto upgrade or not auto upgrade buildings.

Some tips: if you left click on a hunter and right click on a deer, the hunter will go attack that deer. Build walls around your village. Decorations increase desirability so you can build homes in different places that would be less desirable or be considered undesirable. In my personal playthrough, food became an issue after upgrading the town center to tier 3 and having over 150 villagers. Also, don't upgrade your hunting shacks at all.

With the E button you can set your people to explore so you dont have to move your army around. Also if you click on the 'Army Flag' you can send them back to the barracks or move them from there.

When you click on a building there's a yellow button that's a ring that comes up that allows you to change the area of effect of things like hunting cabins and forager shacks. Also, building things near where animals are sighted will drive the animals away. As for the housing it looks like you already figured out how the whole desirability thing works

To directly control fighters.. Left Click (and keep pressing the left button) near them, drag to highlight them with a window (like you do for harvesting). All the people you selected will be highlighted in yellow. Then maneuver the camera to the person you want to attack with WASD keys, and put the mouse cursor over the person you want to attack, the cursor should turn into a sword. RIGHT CLICK the enemy with the sword icon. Everyone you highlighted before will now attack the enemy you right clicked on. Hunters also can be used to attack enemies (they have bows, and up to 4 probably got your initial weapons as well).
