FAS stands for Fabbrica Armi Sportive
@giovannidiiasio33573 жыл бұрын
I'm italian. The right way to pronounce Chiappa is Kiappa. FAS stands for Fabbrica Armi Sportive (sporting weapons manifacture). This is a competition pistol, so it doesn't need to be powerful. The quality is outstanding, much better than the Gamo which by the way is noy a competition pistol.
@CandidZulu3 жыл бұрын
agree, the Gamo is junk. Many have complained the 6004 leaks. And it does not have the very important trigger stop of the original FAS 604 (IIRC).

I have a Gamo Compact which is almost the same!... Had him for about 15 years and I absolutely love him!!! Extremely accurate and fun to shoot!

I've got a Beeman P 17 that costs a fraction of these guns. It's identical to the Wierauch HW 40 and cost $ 69.00 CDN and consistently shoots on chrono at 425 fps. Of all my pistols, this is the most accurate. Thank's again Giles. Your videos have more and more special effects and show a lot of work put into them. You're fun to watch, keep'em comin' . :-)
@JayWC33333 жыл бұрын
At 0:22 I noticed you're right handed, but left eye dominate. You should try shooting pistol left handed. You'll probably do better once you get used to the feel. To be honest, that's why you do better two handed shooting. You put the gun more on your left side due to triangulation. I'm speaking from experience and my military pistol training. This is not intended as a negative critique, but instead intended to help. That's my $.02. Have a great day!

Post age 30 any chance of us listening to reason is out the question. I am right handed and left eye dominant and will continue to shoot right handed and adapt. It works for me and has for many years.

I have an early 604 , nearly 42 years old - I have lots of Steyr/Rohm/Pardini 10m pistols and it’s as accurate and really well balanced, pleased they are still making them, with one of the best pistol triggers produced. Absolute bargain for the quality.
@topshot27873 жыл бұрын
Gotta give the Webley Alecto . a shout out. In. 177 its very accurate (i havent tried. 22) its pretty much recoiless and at an average 5.8ftlbs its a great pester for around 10metres as long as the shooter is capable. Think it is sold under Zoraki HP01 now but its the same pistol. All the best from lancashire.

I have a FAS604 and its superb. 10m paper punching I averaging 89/90 on a competition string. I say was . The seals gave up on the gun and I have never been able to find a new set. Seems I need to contact Mr Chiapa. Thanks Giles. Stick with it and paper punching can be very satisfying. Thanks for the video sir. And no Im NOT putting up a video

Good video. I don’t own or shoot anything fancy just run of the mill air guns. Thanks for the information, I didn’t know that target air guns were so low powered but it make sense.
@duck19463 жыл бұрын
A good 10mtr pistol, been around many years Gamo copied it in plastic and a simple trigger. The FAS maybe lower powered but So is the cocking effort !! A comp course of 60 shots will have you're arm dropping off with the Gamo ! You may prefer a PCP type pistol but this doesn't need an expensive charging kit to make it work. As for pellets RWS R10 and H&N Meisterkugln are the boys, and most likely in 4.49-4.51 the most common sizes for match guns.and of course Hobby's a great training pellet. Any way,not a bad test, the only letdown is the price,to much for an old gun £250 ish is where it should be not priced like a custom shotgun.

I see Giles has the same problem I have. Right handed but left eye dominant / Blind as a bat in the right eye. I can see why shooting it two handed made such a big difference. I have to do the same with my pistols.
@jtee95483 жыл бұрын
I think you're doing well for someone unfamiliar with grouping an iron sighted pistol from a bench. DUDE! you need a Merit Optical Attachment with Suction Cup - it's a variable aperture (like a camera lens or peep sight) Without one it's an uphill battle: 1) You're shooting with the gun too low, forcing you to look up through your glasses. You group with your head up in a normal fashion and the rest raised to allow it. 2) It would seem that with a pistol you are right handed but left eye dominant, this makes it a bit more difficult for you. 3) The massive issue, you don't have shooting glasses with a variable aperture and companion shooting lens, a soft white or gray blocker for your non shooting eye (so it can relax while fully open) and side blinders (like a carriage horse). The companion lens will usually be +.75 to +1.5 diopters, depending on your age (usually). At first I used a custom made +.5 lens when I was in my late twenties. Get a lower stool, raise the rest. With shooting glasses I'd expect fliers to disappear and group size to drop by 50 to 75 percent. Don't believe me? Get a pair of cheap reading glasses, you should be able to find a +1.0 fairly easily, put on your prescription glasses (or contacts), then put the reading glasses on so they are about a little out in front of your normal glasses, if you don't need corrective lenses or you have contact lenses you've got it made, just put the reading glasses on. Here comes the weird part 😁 find a stiff piece of paper, like card stock, perhaps an old paper box from .22lr ammo, a post card or an old box of Weetabix, the darker the better, if you can color it black that's best. You are going to FOLD, not bend it so you can affix it in your line of sight on your dominant eye. WTF? You're going to punch/poke/drill a neat 1mm hole in the paper. With your head in a normal position you will sight through the glasses, through the hole (that your wife helped you position) then through the pistol sights. The +1.0 diopter glasses will help you dead sharp focus the sights, the hole in the paper fools your eye into giving you damn good focus on the target at the same time. If everything is super blurred you probably tried +1.5 or more reading glasses, if everything is too friggin dark the hole in the paper is too small. If you are young & have excellent vision try just the aperture, the hole in the paper or fork out the money for the less expensive Merit Optical Attachment with Suction Cup. If you have old eyes you may need a different diopter for offhand shooting versus grouping as you've lost some ability to force focus. Shooting glasses start in the hundreds and get into crazy money.
@jtee95483 жыл бұрын
Buddy, I'd re-release this video after you've ordered and used a Merit Variable Aperture Optical Attachment with Suction Cup for pistol shooting. Read my long assed comment below or just trust an old competitive shooter ( I won California State NRA trophies twice) who learned from guys far better than myself. I can understand not spending huge money on competitive pistol shooting glasses, but at least purchase the Merit. I used to use the Clearsite Shooting Loupe for certain disciplines, they hook on to the temple piece of your glasses and flip up in a second with no suction cup mark on your glasses, come to think of it, they might have made a suction model too. If you want to shoot iron sight pistols from a bench or offhand accurately, or test pellets or loads you MUST have at least a variable aperture.

I suppose its ok for a beginners gun but you need precharged to be competitive. I have owned a few single stroke pneumatics and they are extremely accurate but once you have cocked and fired 50+ shots you start to loose accuracy.
