Great review. I have the Beeman P17 myself ($50 in Canada) and it is insanely accurate to about 10m and not too bad out to 25m (tin can at that range). Have been using it pretty much daily for a little over 2 years and with occasional o'ring changes has been fantastic. Always love the reviews, thanks.

I bought one 30 years ago when they first came out. I got it from a shop in the Edgeware Rd for 60 quid in London and and took it back to Australia to use against target pistols that cost upwards of $1000au. It performed well. I didn't set any records but it was FAR more accurate than me and was a heap of fun. The trigger was great.

Got one of these last month to use for target practice in the garden, find it to be accurate and decent value. I did find the trigger to be a touch heavy out of the box. Took the grip off and found very little grease on mech, much better after grease applied. Also have the cheaper P17 Beeman, HW 40 clone, great little pistol for £65 but the finish reflects the price. So, it's basicly Gamo PR45 that I own and I don't find it's enough for target shooting. It hasn't got enough power to make clear holes in the target. 5J pistol makes nice holes with target pellet. But I must admitt - it's very accurate.
@MKnife4 жыл бұрын
I've had that Gamo for about 10 years now, so I' a bit familiar with it. A few observations; pumping it a few times before inserting the pellet will slightly increase fps, even if it is not a multi-pump gun. I do not know why, as it shouldn't really do so, but mine does. About the rear sight, the width of the blade opening (or whatever it is called) is also adjustable, in addition to windage and elevation. An interesting feature, not seen too often on other airguns. And finally, it is absolutely true that the grip will need a bunch of whittling and sanding to become comfortable, but it is worth the effort. The gamo is the most accurate short gun in my collection, by far. Thanks for an other excellent review, and greetings from Finland!

I loves my Gamo Compact. Me and 2 other friends bought 3 of the Air Venturies a few years ago, unfortunately 2 of them leaked within 3 weeks. Thankfully, Pyramyd Air refunded us on the 2 duds. The one that survuved is still shooting after 4 or 5 years of use. I really hated to surrender mine back but I was concerned about getting a replacement as 2/3 failed. That being said, the guns are extremely accurate, very comfortable to shoot, light ,great trigger and a blast to shoot.

I've owned all three of these pistols over the years, the zoraki is too loud and the grip is not suited to my hand and the hw40 having fibre optic sights mean it can't be used in comps but is nice, the gamo is the most suitable by far once to have adjusted the grip to suit and I found if you take the trigger spring out from under the clear plastic cover under the grip and give it a little stretch it makes the trigger pull much lighter which combined with the adjustable rotation on the trigger blade makes it a dream to shoot👍

I recently got it out again for my son to use and was pleasantly surprised it still puts pellet on pellet at 6-10m and over the chrono has still held its power. I tried many flat head pellets through it when target shooting and Hobby always came out on top! Great for me as they were one of the cheapest. Great review as always

I enjoyed your review. I did not consider the Zaraki because it is about $100 more expensive than the V10. I did try the HW40 which is sold under a different name in the US. It was almost as accurate at the V10, the trigger a tad heavier but the biggest negative for me was that the HW took a lot of effort to close the pistol. They claim 25 lbs of force but it was more like 30. The V10 was just under 20 lbs and more better for my 70 year old hands with a touch of arthritis. I was lucky enough to find a reputable air gun dealer (Pyramid Air, Solon, Ohio) that was selling a refurbished one with a new warranty for only $200 (~ £140 ). If anything goes wrong in the first year I can get it repaired or replaced by them.

Great review as always Andy! For me, the Artemis/Zasdar PP700SA is 'King' of the pistols in this category. Sure, you need a dive cylinder or pump to charge it, but I get over 110 full power (5.4 ft/lb) shots in .22 per charge. (Much less effort than a 'pump up'. Also, it only costs 50p to fill it up at my club if you don't have your own kit.) I have a choice of open, scope and red dot sights. A Swift Stumpy silencer completes my package. Bolt on the folding shoulder stock, and you have a VERY versatile pistol that is super accurate, and can deal with 20 yard vermin without a problem. Overall, I don't think you could buy a better pistol in this class! Keep up the great job Andy.

Good enjoyable weekly in depth review as usual, I know you have reviewed the Kral Np02, I am considering purchasing the Kral NP03, are you considering reviewing this air rifle, as I would love to hear your thoughts on same, prior to purchasing. This lighter weight gun would be used for target shooting in my garden ( can only achieve a 20 metre range) and close range ratting Accuracy is the important aspect for me, as my main rifle is an HW100 (super accurate and reliable gun, but a bit heavy for garden shooting and close range ratting) the problem being I do not want to get smaller groups shooting in the garden. Getting great groups and accurate shots using the Custom Targets, these are great, have you tried then, if not you will not be disappointed, try the 5mm pin targets at 20 metre or further ! ! The Beeman is P17 is identical to the HW40, only it's made in China instead of Germany like the HW40 and Beeman P3. Looks to be a good buy for a first serious pistol after stepping up from a club gun. The ability to shape the grip exactly at that price is excellent. The synthetic grips on the other pistols are fine if they fit exactly but few hands will, a target pistol doesn't need the styling nor does a single shot need a safety when you're going to charge, load, and fire.

The grip is unfinished, but I suppose it being sold with the possibility of actually making it "your own" could be seen as a good thing, although I feel the option to have a finished, treated one should be available.. Not a fan of the lack of a safety switch, if I`m at the range and the guy next to me is cocking this thing, I`ll be very wary of his/her movements. Not the gun for me, I`d rather mod a 1377 and end up at a bit higher price, but save a lot of time, which of course, is money ;)

why when not making REPLICA guns, do makers try so hard to make their AIR PISTOLS, resemble colt 1911s or other makes. in the past airgun barrels looked like airguns , a lower tube for compressed air or spring,and an upper tube for barrel,very little chance of it being mistakem by police for a fire arm, but today makers produce firearm resembling NOT A REPLICA airguns that take a close look to diferentiate. its no wonder the law clamps down.imagine your a cop, you enter a house for a disturbance, on the sideboard is what appears to be an automatic pistol or revolver, your next thought is ? now imagine the same but instead you see what is cearly an air pistol, dial back the tension 50% at least. your opinion please
