If brands really followed Indian "Car enthusiasts's opinion," we would've had ford, many vw/skoda cars and many other cars which didn't sell well. And infact only enthusiasts are buying Jimny since it was always a popular car outside India and many were waiting for its launch. People with no knowledge of cars go for Thar, fortune and many popular cars, information is out there but many buyers blindly go for what looks good on the road not just utility.

@@sumitshelkee NA engines stand for "Naturally Aspirated" engines in the type of classification of aspiration in internal combustion engines(ICE) used in cars. NA aspiration is the normal one, there's turbo aspiration which has a turbocharger run by exaust gases & supercharged aspiration which has a supercharger run by crankshaft, both of which gives in forced induced air in the intake sys. giving more power & torque output for the engine unlike in NA which has no air-charger, hence none of this happens.

I own a manual jimny as well but don't have a shifting problem at all, yes one can't feel the gears clicking in but chill bro it's not as bad as you're projecting. I've done 34,000 plus kms and never a problem. Drive a thar and you'll know what is crude shifting specially 4wd lever. And all off-road vehicles have a big turning circle radius.

Hack for Suzuki's Reverse gear problem, slot it in 5 then go to R, if still stuck just release the clutch a little bit, that does the trick for me

With the amount of water logging that happens in many places in India, I'd say snorkels could be a necessity sometimes. Better to get it fitted (if one can) than potentially damage the engine in monsoon in flooded underpasses.

@@throttle9020 ok i dont know which part of the country you live, but here in the northeastern India there are places very remote areas where only gypsy or jeep can go wnd I assure u there are lots of thars who are performing very well in such conditions. Dont judge by looking at the chapri modifications from North India on 2x2 thars and assume thar is not capable. Thar outperform jimny in very steep, and bad roads cos of its low end torque and more bhp. Thar is better in every way possible especially in hilly, small, slushy, extremely bad roads. Jimny is good but not better than thar. And mind you i driven b9th jimny and thar

I had this gearbox issue with my first gen Ertiga, I was there for almost all Ertigas that were manufactured in Q1 2013.. At about 13,000, it started having serious gearbox issues just like your Jimny. Maruthi acknowledged that some batches of Ertigas did have this issue, and so they replaced the gearbox under warranty and I've never had that issue after that in the past 11 and half years.. My car is now 1.6 Lakh kilometers and I still use it daily.

I bought my Thar CRDe in 2017. After that Thar 700, Thar 2020, Jimny, Thar Roxx launched with a lot of noise and whistels. Everybody told me to sell my Thar and buy these new SUV's. But I didn't. Today I am a happy owner of a fully loaded 4x4 with a MLD BS4 2.5 ltrs diesel SUV. 😅😅😅 Have you checked the prices of Thar with MLD models ? I bought mine for 10.68 Lakhs only.

Whichever car you feel is not slotting into reverse, engage 1st and move an inch forward and then try engaging reverse.

This is a common issue in many other cars where heavy duty gears are used. The teeth don't mesh properly always due to bigger tooth size. Trick is let the clutch go for 3-4 secs in neutral. It changes the orientation and then it will mesh. Plz don't get frustrated and keep abusing the gearstick repeatedly as shown in this video. The clutch will waer out unnecessarily. There is a risk of breaking of gear tooth also.

14's already mentioned. 15 is nonsense assumption, as petrol SUVs like FJ Cruiser, LCs of all eras exists. Only petrol doesn't mean it's not true SUV. Even low torque is enough for true SUV(off-roader), as not all off-roaders gets good torque like the Mk2 Jimny/Gypsy/Samurai 1l, Original Jeep Willys, etc. That's also good enough torque, moreover Jimny with 132Nm of torque with 4L mode & light weight is not of such an issue when ppl managed 72/103Nm of torque Gypsys(old Indian 1l/1.3l Jimny lwb). It can still do off-road well, only that it needs better tyres & diff locks incase u want to do more intense off-road. But that's enough for a simple basic designed off-roader with simple & cheap parts like the all dependent leaf springs & old school 4WD transfer case with ladder frame chassis.

I have got 15 kmpl with a “light foot”. Driven 12000 km with mine. Storage is solvable with tailor made mods. Also get a throttle controller, really helps with the lack of power perception. Get diff breathers for the water wading depth. ESP Will work post 40km. Because people rarely get over that when off -roading. Never had a problem with reverse. Touch wood. As for people who want “road presence” get a G-wagon (because everyone has a thar) or a smaller ego.

Here in the Philippines the 4-door Jimny us going for about $29,xxx, a fat sum for what really feels like an economy car inside the cabin. It's just not worth it. IMHO, given the competition, it should just be around $24,000.

There is a problem in the gear box of suzuki cars whenever you try to put the car in reverse it does not fall in reverse in the first attempt. Here is a hack: if your reverse gear does not fall then first put it in 1st gear then shift gear to reverse

Why didn't the launch the 3 door? 😭 I love it sm. The rear seats are useless anyways in 5 door. It would have saved weight, improved off-road capability, performance and efficiency. They were already making it and could have just launched it at a lower price. Idk why the developed a new 5 door. The 3 door would have been sold equal if not more. And this looks weird with those doors that look aftermarket. 3 door looks so well proportioned and cute.
