Hm..the boxter engine seems to be a pain when it comes to such bikes built for offroading. A crash can damage the engine right?

Boxer* (or the flathead)... and no, the engine is more rigid than the cradle frame, so not going to behave like you think. The entire bike is build around the engine, not like the traditional bikes where engine is placed in after making the frame. The only serious damage to these engine can be caused by high speed crashes, which is obvious in any vehicle you could think of.

I think it is back to suspend future batteries, maybe 😅‼️ Besides the phenomenal balance the boxer engine delivers through its gyroscopic precession, 2 stroke, Free Piston Linear Generators for use in series hybrid cars are also opposed cylinders. Toyota is trying hydrogen fuel for such engines. For slow speed silicon ring zero oil running maybe.
