Simon Gallup play this song with a Fender VI, a baritone guitar, but i think the StingRay can get close to that sound.

The tone is perfect! As it is your performance, congrats :) Try it with just one string and you might get the exact Gallup's 'slide' effect of the song.

It's one of the reasons I love Gallup. He's got these very simple and easy to play, yet almost mesmerizing basslines. Disintegration has one of my favourites, but then again everything on this album does. I love it.

in 1989 Simon Gallup had no Gibson basses. 89 was the recording year of the disintegration album. in the 80ths he played different basses one was a Musicman (The Cure in Orange), a nother one a rickenbacker (pornography tour), and he played a fender bass too, but as far as i know he used his ECCLESHALL 335 STYLE BASS fort he whole disintegration album recordings and the following tours till 1996 or 1997. than he played a gibson bass and a fender bass too. now he plays his signature bass (Simon Gallup Ultra Bass made schecter).

I'm not sure what he played on the record, but on a lot of the prayer tour Simon used a Washburn acoustic bass. No idea why, I don't think it sounded particularly good. The bass he used for the wish tour was custom made for Dick Knight, based on the Gibson EB-2, which Simon also used (see the Just Like Heaven video). This video rocks! I had suspected that the bass on Fascination Street was a Bass VI, but the stingray definitely sounds right.

He only played concerts with the hollowbody bass. He recorded his bass tracks for disintegration with a musicman stingray including this song.

Ah ah ah, that was one of our "minute covers" I made with by band in the early 90's. (or late 80's, this is far in my memories) We covered it "live" while watching the promo on MTV... One of the song we pined the fastest eheheh. it became for a while our rehearsal warm-up song. This is a cool song.

I believe he used a Stingray on "Fascination St". There's a Bass VI in the video, but that doesn't mean anything. I'm not sure what overdrive he used on it, but it's probably a Boss one. More than likely it was added after the track was recorded tho. -Jules

Of course the Bass VI in the video doesn't mean anything: i'm not sure about the overdrive used, but IMHO that's not a Stingray, i doesn't hear his distinctive sound.
