Sooo...plains. You can use them by clicking on the airport, which will automatically select all air wings in that airport. Then right click on the province you want them to fly over. Then right click on that province, you will know see your airwings on the screen, there you can assign them their mission (for example Air Superiority). There is an icon which shows how much of this air-space the airwing can actually cover, large areas will require more reach. Fighters and Close Air Support are short range but very effective, Heavy Fighters, Tacitcal and Strategic Bombers have much more range but are slower and less agile. You have a nation-wide total for units assigned to naval invasions, at the start you have only 10. You can improve this by researching new landing vessels at the bottom of the ship-research-page. Use battleplans! Especially in big wars it will be impossible to micro-manage all divisions. You can assign a front and then an offensive line, in the Army tab you can assign how they act. Defensive (not attacking forts and under no circumstances widening the front), Balanced (attacking but not widening the front) and Aggressive (basically the Blitzkrieg-stance, very high risk-reward). Units will get a preparation bonus of up to 50%, meaning they will peform much better in combat. This bonus decreases over time. This is especially important however, as stationary units get an entrentchment bonus. Both of these bonuses can be improved by the Grand Battleplan-doctrine (I myself prefer Superior Firepower as anyone but Germany). Shan Xi *did* have only 2 divions, the third one was a volunteer-force from another country (judging by the flag Soviet Union or Communist China). You need to look at the research-dates! You started researching one tech that is for 1937 in May 1936, you will get a huge malus if you do that. Sometimes just like 3% if the next year starts in a week, but with over half a year you proprably got over double the research time which should (and could) have been invested in Support Weapons I.

some tips. 1. make sure your factories are always doing something. they still work with no resources. 2. there's a tech to be able to naval invade with more than 10 divisions at a time. 3. use the railroad to quickly move troops 4. i'm guessing it's better to combine your navies 5. aircraft need a base, then a territory to do missions, then assign a mission. 6. you can assign your generals orders to have the AI do all the fighting if you want. 7. half of your divisions are "garrison" units. (the 3 red strips). they receive reinforcements last. it's free to switch them to another division template. 8. when you recruit before they are ready, they either are short equipment or are inexperienced. you can click add unit to train more in parallel. 9. you're going to need a lot more infantry equipment.

Also attacking into mountains confers a decent terrain penalty to the attacker which can be mitigated by having mountaineer troops which you can recruit.

i have 1 important advice watch your divisions combat width, every province has a base combat with of 80 (varies on terrain) but this means that if you have 3 divisions of 30 width each, only 2 will be fighting from the front at a time, if you keep your divisions at 10, 20, or 40, they are on paper, more efficient

Hey legend, awesome to see you do a hoi4 campaign. I see that you are not giving your normal land units a front line and a battle plan before starting the war, but you really should. Depending on your research you get a 50-110% bonus in battle from giving your guys a plan like that. Also there is no use in leaving your naval dockyards unassigned like you do now. Even if you do not have the resources required to build the ship they will still do something, and if you leave them unassigned they do nothing. There is no downside to it, except that it gives you an annoying notification

Ahahahaaaaa, fuuuuck yes, good old fashioned Hearts of Iron. Best of luck my friend! Protip: Bumrush Rocket artillery and the Self-Propelled version. SPRarty is hilariously overpowered, and increases your soft attack to ridiculous amounts. Paired with SP-Anti Tank, you can make small stacks that just batter down entrenched troops and create pockets like a pocket creating thing.

Thank you for playing this game Legend! I would advice that your divisions have a combat width of 20 and you should also give them support equipment and support artillery, and I personally give my tank-divisions support anti-tank artillery to make them better at fighting other tanks. I would also advice that you make spearhead armies, so that you can blitz victory points and capitals, and I personally think that it's better to keep all your ships together in a giant fleet and split it up when you need to have fleet superiority for a naval invasion. As I said earlier I'm really happy that you're playing this game and I hope you can win WWII! ;)

In recruitment menu, you can press add a unit and it will train at the same time couple units of the same kind

Nice, will be watching this series. Also build lots of civilian factors to start, as you use them to build more factories and military factories, and get resources because other nations will trade you civilian factories for them, and if you have no use for the surplus resources it will help you max out your factories Political power is also very important, hire people in your government for more PP and then use that extra power to make coups in other nations for fascism, then support the fascists and you have an ally, so say you make the soviets fascist you pretty much win

I did it to the US, started supporting Fascism in like 1936, could start a civil war (that would last) in like 1941. And THAT'S assuming the US kept their original president and didn't get the guy with idealogy drift defense bonus.

Zakanater 19 Yes, you can just stage a coup right from the start, but then the revolutionary faction won't be powerful enough to actually last more than a month. In my attempt, I waited to stage a coup until the USA was 40% Fascist, and I believe it got to 50% by the time it actually started. While the war lasted for ages, the Fascist faction couldn't win on its own so I had to invite it to the Axis and send my entire army to crush the USA, as was my plan.

If you have your new early recruited troops in an army they can use the exercise function to get rid of the green attribute which decreases attack by 25% just so you know.

If you ever revisit the game for a second campaign, Italy in an "Italy First" campaign would be a good choice as they're not as ROFL stomp as Germany and it would be interesting to see you try to recreate the Roman Empire without Germanys aid.

Im actually playing as Japan and steam rolling the Allies on reg difficulty. Japan has a better start than Germany. I would Honestly focus on that fleet of yours reorganize the ships into probably 4-5 Fleets. 2 Fleets should search and destroy (These fleets should have all your battleships and Aircraft carriers, 1 fleet should be patrol/convoy protect (this fleet should be lots of destroyers and cruisers) and the SUBS should convoy raid in enemy seas. The ground war is the toughest against China, build marines or light in weight divisions and INVADE PORTS (learned the hard way why not to)! The air game is actually good for Japan but not really up to speed either. Also Legend a tip is to annex only resource rich regions of china DONT Full ANNEX because they become a puppet of you/Vassal that builds Armies! Annex the southern portion of China and and some port regions of China. You must build heavy infantry divisions for the actual ground wars and lights for the upcoming war with Britain dont worry about that war to much because almost all their attention will be on the Germans (USE this time to build up a navy and start thinking logistics and attacking the brits ability to use their ships in places they just cant). I have not gone to war with the US at the moment but my ground war in India is being held up (mostly because my attention is on the SouthEast Asian Islands and in securing oil and rubber So that way war with the US doesnt eventually starve me out like it did in Real life. 1. ITS YOUR WAR LEGEND DO WHAT YA PLEASE though and makes sense at the time of all the campaigns ive played this game hasnt done anything the same more than once for the most part, Ive seen STALIN start WW2 so my suggestion could be point less and China half the time steam rolls Japan

If You want to annex all of china you should think about factories vs extra armies fighting for the Axis. I choose Axis, Which is working out because Chinese forces are fighting the Brits in India The factories are good in China but you need the resources to utilize them which is a big probably not as Japan.

@Legend you need to make death stakes with fleets. Eg have 2 or 3 massive fleets because the USA has a massive fleet. ( its a bit broken if you have a massive fleet against a medium you will take minimal casualties they will lose a lot.

Also leave troops guarding your home land because some one might naval or para you capital. You also should put your naval factories focusing on one ship or two ships. It is so much more efficient.

Think you need more transports to carry the divisions to attack the ports [research upgrades to carry more]. Keep building a big navy with carriers to defend later against the US. Attack the American islands [and allied islands] later to prevent the US from bringing their ships over [further to travel/resupply etc.] Avoid attacking over rivers if you can.....reduces casualties.

In my campaign as britain air supremacy wins wars with 24 divisions I rekt The Novum Imperium Romanum of Italy Nationalist Spain and Bulgaria simply because I controlled the air and bombed the shit out of their lands with strategic bombers but tactical bombers are more flexible so it's better to research Fighters and Tactical Bombers to hell with honor bomb the hell out of them and mow them down with a small well trained modern army.So yeah victory through airpower and strategic destruction worked out the best as the air doctrine for me and a strong navy is key to fuck up their war machine.However I use this to grind them down so that they have to fight a war of attrition while I save up my manpower for a large offensive to end the war in one decisive campaign since I don't really use large armies since the allies send me huge expeditionary forces which are the main front line armies so that startegy is mainly if your outnumbered by a considerable margin but my first point still stands Air Supremacy wins the war history has proven me righjt time and time again. Tips here: Don't give a shit about border with Russia, pool all resources to all of China, yes that's all the Chinese countries with names i can't pronounce. Join axis as soon as possible to avoid any incentive for Russia to totally wreck you in a singular war. For airplanes, i recommend getting a shit fuck tonne of Fighters and Air supports and maybe some Strat bombers. Before you declare war on China, you need a band of 6 units on a Naval invasion order near Nanjing or some other precious city. Get artillery researched and edit it into your Infantry unit as "Support Artillery", it gives a shit tonne of "Soft" attack which is attack against infantry units, which the Chinese only have.

Also, get the First row of Battle Doctrines in research, gives you %5.00 recruitable population in the long end, which you will most likely be needing cuz it's your first walkthrough and you'll most probably lose at least 4 million men fighting Russia later.

+Legend a better example is if you see a group of 20 divisions, you go around them then you slowly crush the group. When the group dies, you will see a text in red on the province you killed them at saying "Overrun"
