ima have to disagree somewhat with that first segment about thrifting, yes it is getting more popular, yes it is getting a bit more expensive, but to expect to find a gem every time you go in shouldn't be your mentality. "Sifting through the mid" is unfortunately part of the process; and although browsing online is much more convenient and popular as opposed to thrifting, these curated sites you talk about often charge the high, plus they don't have fitting rooms like the thrifts do. Some sellers might post the measurements of the garment, but not all. Finally, who knows what you'll find at the thrift, you can find a really cool, stylish 1 of 1 piece for the low.
@MrGrim504 Жыл бұрын
I agree...thrifting has gotten so popular to a point where people are complaining about having to go through too many poor to mid quality clothing items but thats the whole point..thrift stores are considered thrift stores because the clothes there are donated and people either don't want or have a need for them..complaining about poor to mid clothing items in thrift stores is like complaining how everything in a high end luxury clothing store is too expensive

Trifting is only popular because of economic downturn. The same thing happened in 2008. Everyone was obsessed with trifting and then when 2010 came, no one was trifting anymore, they wanted Supreme clothes and other expensive brands.

If you’re a seasoned fashionista, 10yrs at least, there’s absolutely no problem seeking gems at thrifting. The key is to go to one that’s in a more affluent area. The one in my city absolutely sucks so I don’t bother there. But countless times, I’ve found countless pieces for a super fraction of the cost if sold at consignment stores or eBay. But you’ve really gotta have an eye to find the right stuff.

getting advice from the internet is not the way to find your style. learn to really know when you love a piece. dont worry about what might match or what wont. just get the pieces you love and leave anything youre not 100% crazy about in the store. only thing that matters is that youre comfy with what you’re wearing. the more natural and comfy you feel the better you’ll look regardless of the clothes :)

@2000Doriyas Жыл бұрын
Your height is irrelevant, you can find pants and shirts that fit your measurements and your preferences. Figure out if you like a relaxed, slim, boxy or standard look on clothes. Take some slightly oversized clothes to a tailor and have them bring it in and taper it to your body and see if that confirms how you want clothes to fit and then aim to have them fit those measurements.

My friend says i dress like a Japanese girl (i'm a guy btw), but i'll be damned; 'cause he still thinks it looks good on me. oh, and for reference here's what i wear: - Hand-me-down pleated wide black/grey trousers/ two wide fit Levis, one dark blue and heavy, and the other someone else's stonewash project; almost white in color, but it's real comfortable! - Hand-me-down white dress shirt. (this and the trousers are my base fit) - Red/grey/beige/black and white stripes/blue/yellow sweatshirt. (quite flexible as you can tell) - Casio A-158/vintage Seiko from my gramps (w/ a grey german NATO strap)/ thrifted G-Shock gravity defier. - Thrifted denim jacket, some turkish brand, really good quality tho; i'd say almost on par w/ my heavy Levi's i mentioned before. (oh, and they're cropped quite a bit, pretty nice for layering!) - Vans checkered slip ons (for non-walking heavy trips)/white Asics Gel Kayanos (for comfort and response)/New balance fresh foams (for more cushioning)/Adidas. lots. of. Adidas./etc... - usually carry a messenger bag or a slim profile bag, which cost quite a lot. (Tony Perotti 200$, Piquadro ~300$, Tumi 620$, Case logic 20$, Samsonite ~200$) (but of course: they're all thrifted) P.S: these are things that i've accumulated over 3 years, it's a slow process; and good things come to those who wait. Edit: sorry for the (semi) brag about the messenger bags; got a little excited there.

It’s such a weird time. One minute if you want a personal style you are considered a gate keeper and corny. If someone just goes with the trends they’re a hype beast who’s corny for not having their own style. Now places that actual subversive cultures as well as lower class people were able to find fits (goodwill) is being called overrated it’s weird. no one should listen to anything. I had a single mother and goodwill and other second hand stores were literally how I had winter coats to keep me warm during the winter. I hate that rich and upper middle class people destroyed shopping for people who actually need these stores for everything. Idk it’s all confusing. I feel like everyone should just stay in their lane and wear what they actually enjoy. Every content creator ends up saying “be yourself” but I don’t think people mean it anymore.
