Many words you randomly spilled ended up in my notebook. They seriously solved a lot of my stagnations in my design process. Ex, "think about how would you style the music video", etc. I always have troubles translating the moods inspired by literature, movie, music etc, it's very enlightening to watch you videos, not to exaggerate. Thank you.

I love watching your videos. I always learn something knew. Im not best drawer. So sometimes I get frustrated. Especially when it comes to coloring it. So what I do is I sketch out what I want to look like. Then I'll cut out the garment. So then it's just the person and an outline of the dress. Then I get different fabrics a place the paper over it and take pictures. And then I start working on the one that looks the best to me.

Yes, most fashion illustration isn't really based on drawing straight observation, but manipulating it to fit our needs. Even when fashion illustrators draw from observation, they/we'll push the gesture, exaggerate the figure, dramatize the drapes. Thank you.

I'm so happy I have subscribed to you. I'm going to start studying Apparel & Textiles this upcoming semester. & this is really going to help me prepare for what's ahead. I'm so excited! On another note, is the fashion industry cutthroat? As in are people catty, competitive, & more likely to backstab you or throw you under the bus? I know it's not good to generalize but just wondering how your experience has been working with others..
@zoehongteaches8 жыл бұрын
Chazmyane Alexia Is the industry cutthroat? Yes. Is everyone catty? No. The industry is not what they show in the movies. Every competitive industry is going to have some bad seeds, but I have met lots and lots of cool peeps too. You reap what you sow.

Im really enjoying your videos! So informative. I graduated from fashion school with an AA in Apparel Manufacturing Management back in 2010 and im trying to get back into design and pursue my career in fashion design. Since graduating I have been working in production positions. But im not feeling fullfilled and feel like its due to the lack of creativity in my job responsibilities. For someone trying to transition from the production dept. to the design dept., what advice do you have? From your experience, have you seen that department transition happen before, is it possible for me to still apply for position in the design department without having experience in the design department?
@zoehongteaches7 жыл бұрын
You need an amazing design portfolio. You probably won't be able to make a lateral move. You'll probably need to go closer to entry level because it's almost like starting a new career. In your conversation with HR, or your job application, play up how your production experience will help you as a designer. Good luck!
