This is a true story. About two years ago, I went to dine at a restaurant and as I entered I saw Ms. Wintour at a table speaking with a male. I thought it inappropriate to interrupt so I went and had my breakfast. About an hour later, having finished my meal, I walked towards the exit. Much to my surprise, Ms. Wintour was still at the table but now on the other side and speaking with a female. It was then that I calculated the chances of ever seeing her or meeting her again. I came up with zero, so I approached the table but first I introduced myself to the other woman. As I turned towards Ms. Wintour, she extended her hand and said "Hello, I'm Anna." We had a brief conversation. She was very gracious and certainly not the Nuclear Wintour she is so often characterized as being. As I was about to turn and leave, Anna gave me the Wintour once over (she looked me up and down). Mercifully, I was in a suit and tie. Oh, she was NOT wearing her signature sunglasses ! Now, if she would only invite me to the Met Gala. LOL !

HauteLeMode Anna Wintour is a controlling bully. I watched a documentary on her where she had everyone around her a nervous wreck, trying to stay in her good graces. I worked in financial corporate environments like that for decades; Those types of bosses are usually very insecure, and rule that way to squash other talent and stay in power.

And now Anna has fallen into the same boredom of Grace Mirabella with all the celebrities on the covers. I have every issue of Vogue from March 1996 and 95% are celebs. I'm sick of it and I personally think that Vogue needs some new blood while keeping Ms. Grace Coddington...
@brigh126 жыл бұрын
I agree. Her first cover was new and fresh. Now all we see are the same actresses over and over. I think it would be wonderful to put "nobodies" on the cover. Something different!

I remember seeing Grace Coddington in Chelsea, NYC. I worked at a gelato spot and she walked right in front of the store in the morning light and the sun burst brilliant hues of red in her hair. I wanted to run outside but didn’t have courage enough to stop this angel-in-stride, so I applaud you.

I actually met not Anna but Grace Coddington outside Lincoln Center a few years back, after seeing an opera. I was with my mother and we both saw her hair and immediately knew it was her. She was on the curb with her husband trying to hail a taxi but my mother knew this might never happen again, so she dragged me up to her and said hello. My face completely turned red, probably the hardest I've ever blushed in my life. She was completely lovely and signed my sketchbook, along with a small drawing of her cat. She also gave me a look over, and I can only hope she approved of my outfit since I was in all black.

I just wanna throw it out there that Anna Wintour getting "weak" in 2008 can't be attributed to her, considering that a recession just dropped in the US the year before. So it's kinda like basic economics. The "buy food vs. buy fashion" sorta

The fact that you decided that anna brought celebrities to fashion im sorry but thats a wrong fact. Gianni versace was the one who decided to bring celebrities into fashion, which was the reason why versace was so big in the 90’s. Research more
