This video goes over step by step how to render plaid or tartan. If you're doing gestural fashion illustration, it's ok to be a bit vague or a bit flat, if it works for your overall style, but if you're a designer who wants to accurately express their designs, you should know how to render fabrics more precisely.

Useful information as always. 😃👍 This helps me in art and in life. As far as gel pens go, get Sakura Gelly Roll Moonlight in every color. They work great over dark colors. I wouldn't be without them.

That goes to say i don't usually commend people on here often or at all, but i really wanted to tell you how much i appreciate you. I feel like you saved me from loads and uncountable hours of time wasting and procrastinating and money flying everywhere for no good reason. I'm of Scottish descent, and we have an entirely different definition of tartan and plaid. Tartan is a specific plaid pattern associated with a clan.

Try a hard lead. I use mechanical pencils with HB lead for pre-painting drawing.
