I’ve just stumbled across your channel this week and have loved every video so far. I’m always puzzled by the viewers that can’t seem to help themselves from feeling personally attacked by a video. 🤷🏼‍♀️. I’m a plus sized, Apple-shaped, 5’ 7” female around your same age. Many of the clothes you show might not work for my body type and size, but that’s not your fault. Lol. It’s not your fault if my bank account might not like a certain brands price point. Great video Serena, all of your sweater choices are fantastic! I am giving up oversized anything, frayed hems, and solid ink-black tops. I worked hard in 2023 to lose 50 pounds so no more oversized clothing. Frayed hems look unkempt IMHO and they have to be snipped when the strings get long. And, deep dark black does not flatter seniors with fair skin. It is ageing! Navy Blue is my new black.

I did a ruthless closet clean out last weekend. It was very liberating because I only kept items I enjoy wearing. Those sweaters are cute, but I run hot all the time (thanks menopause). I kept some thinner V neck sweaters in neutral colors. As far as Lily Silk goes, I can't justify the high cost for tops I wouldn't wear daily. I have one ivory satin blouse I purchased on sale at Banana Republic for less than half the price and it looks and feels expensive.

Thanks for all of your past videos. I bought myself some nice items prior to Christmas…some quality items at a fraction of the price thanks to all those sales 😊 Yesterday I did a very aggressive closet clean out…I got rid of every uncomfortable pair of shoes/boots (no matter how nice looking they are), all of the old trendy tops and anything I don’t remember what year or decade I got them. I must say I have to be a little bit of a pack rat because I have two large boxes ready to go to Goodwill and one large garbage bag for the landfill unfortunately. I put aside all of my old jeans for a prospective denim rag quilt project later this year. Again, thank you for your advice.

Another great video! Love those Lily Silk sweaters. When I worked in designer apparel, we learned the average person wears 20% of their clothes/shoes 80% of the time. So, 80% of our clothes/shoes just sit there! That has helped me cull the clothes and shoes. I usually do this every January! Am pulling things for Goodwill this whole month.

I'm going to clear out my ill-fitting, stretched out bras, underwear, and socks! I did a big clearout last fall of everything I hadn't worn in the last year. My late mother taught us to save our raggedy underwear and bras for a trip. And we would throw them away at some destination. We would always name said underwear about where we were going like "awful Austin", "Ratty Roma". Of course we would only take things that actually had elastic etc. But we always played the game and it's always brought laughs.

Love your classy style!! Concur about ill fitting clothes. Tried for too long to make clothes that are made for "normal" size people work on my petite frame (I'm your height and about the same weight). Luckily, there are a lot more stores that do have petite sizing: Loft, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Gap. Occasionally, I will buy a sweater, blouse that does not come in a petite size but rarely do that now. Prefer shoulders/sleeves made for petites because they hit in the appropriate spots. I've tried with Walmart but just do not care for the clothes. They never fit me right.

I'm in better shape now than I was in my 20s so I refuse to give up on form-flattering fashion; which includes my 5 inch heels! I make them (somewhat) comfortable with inserts and I focus on weighted exercises - specifically on my legs and hips so I can wear my heels. I'm very short at 5'1" and I need the height! Lily Silk has some nice items, but at a price point I cannot justify filling my closet with. Also, their sales/discounts aren't as great as other competitor retailers. I don't buy "cheap" clothes and I don't shop for clothes at Walmart, but I also don't want to look frumpy. In the medical field, my workwear is frumpy scrubs, so in my off-time, I prefer to dress up a bit more. I realize that's the opposite of some who dress up for work and want to be comfortable on days off, but we can try to look a bit more polished than most of these looks. If anything, after age 40 or 50 I'd say stop dressing like teenagers (faded jeans, hoodies, sneakers, etc...) wear only dark jeans, maybe a loose blazer, and wedges (if you cannot wear heels). That is just as comfortable as the styles shown in this video which I consider boring and frumpy.

Love your videos and look forward to each one. One thing that I would like to suggest that I dont see in other influncers, is to consider stating the wash and care instructions for pieces. Especially those pieces that may need special instructions to laundry. Does it need dry cleaning, dry on a hanger, lay flat to dry, or regular washing and drying, etc. Often times this is a consideration for the purchasing the item. I for one have no idea how to properly care for a cashmere sweater but have often thought about purchasing one but have changed my mind because of its care. Thank you for all your videos. Yes, the cashmere ones do. But the hoodie is 70/30 wool/cotton so I can't wear it directly against my skin. It's fine with the t-shirt underneath.

She can't have the same opinion or taste that every one of her followers have. If someone doesn't like the content then it's simple don't watch it. Watch something you agree with and enjoy. But several of these were just plain nasty and picking at every little thing she said. And the comments were not said in a nice way. That's not helping anyone grow or better themselves or the channel. I'm 68 and the best advice I have ever received was from my mother. She told me. "If you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything at all." It's a custom built-in system from Closets by Design. They came out for a consult, I discussed my needs, she made some suggestions, we came up with a plan and she took all the measurements & made a sketch that I approved. About 5 or 6 weeks later, everything was ready and they came out for the installation. It took nearly all day!

I'm Not sure about the blouses, etc but all the cashmere/wool sweaters are dry clean. This isn't a Likysilk thing....all wool or cashmere sweaters are dry clean only. Unless you want to ruin them.

you can use the wool wash program, bu i am not sure how american toploaders are in terms of this program. a frontloader is pretty good for this. i wash my 100% cashmere in a laundry bag, max. 3 bags per wash in one machine, in the wool program. @@StylewithSerena

I hand wash and lay flat to dry all my cashmere and Merino wool sweaters from lilysilk. Using cashmere/ wool delicate detergent. No issues whatsoever! They dry like brand new. Also use a fabric shaver when necessary to remove the fuzzy balls😅 I have quite a few sweaters now from lilysilk and they fit so nice compared to cheap sweaters, no longer wasting money on "fast" fashion.

I have bought Lilly Silk in the past and I ruined it by putting it in the wash. These pieces should be dry cleaned which is another expense. Sorry, Ill pass on Lilly Silk for myself. You look nice in them though.

The label says to dry clean. Wool has to be dry cleaned too. But I don't dry clean after every single wear. Not like you're exercising & sweating in them! Why are so many opposed to having dry clean only items? I'm Not attacking you, I'm just asking a question. I had no idea this was such a drawback.

A cowl neck is extremely dated looking. If a draped look is desired, a snood looks far better and is more versatile. Classic looks are timeless and can be worn for years and years.

Thank you for your content. I usually enjoy watching your videos. I do think, however, that when I see headings like this one, I tend to skip the video entirely. This means I’ve been skipping your videos a lot lately. If the title of the video was more positive (e.g. here’s what I’m doing in 2024 to improve my collection) instead of negative (don’t do this or that because it looks cheap) I wouldn’t react that way.

Thanks for the feedback. Please know that the videos aren't "negative", but it's been proven that negative words in titles & thumbnails tend to draw more views. Thats why you see a lot of it on KZbin. And don't worry...I have plenty of positive content coming up!
