The most underrated 80's band ever, fantastic album, every song is great!
@11sophiemarie4 жыл бұрын
I'll never understand why this band, and album, never really caught on. I bought this on cassette, Fabrique, the minute I heard this song. And promptly wore it out. They were all talented and their music was a mix of jazz and aural satisfaction. 15 years ahead of their time. Still one of my top 10 favorite groups.

Could be to do with management/promotion - I find it hard to believe but they were never on Top of the Pops. But back then an appearance on the show would mean massive boost in sales!

..amazing that i’m not the only one who bought this back in the day and were blown away..Street Player is good example of a group sound which had great keyboards and synths but were not subservient to them!..in a arena that was very crowded at the time, i thought this album really stood out..it’s raw, it’s funky..and early tech sounding all at once..i’m gonna have to say it “this sh*t is too advanced for some folks”..from the days of modular..the Yamaha CS-80 and early Sequential Circuits stuff, etc..nuff said!..stay safe and stay strong..New York May 22, 2022..

I can remember I was at a friend's house when I first saw this video and was instantly struck with them. Saw them live twice in Sheffield and Bradford both with different lead singers (remember Troy Tate?) . King and Kajagoogoo were the support acts and somehow they managed to get in the charts. Have this on cassette along with several 12" singles.

hariod it was just a club that had a mix of people some where punks, straight well dress people and normal plus quite a few people who where gender benders. It was a bit pretentious but in a fun way It was just a club at the time down the ally by lee longs. Lot of the time I didn't get in cause I used to be in the crown and barbarellas and showed up drunk. I think skinny boy Al the lead singer of fashion who left I think at start of the 80's was a character spoke to him a few times . Andy and roger Taylor too and Andy wicket he lived down in Balsall Heath I think, he was the lead of Duran. Never met Simon le bon but saw them in the final line up on once up in a wine bar down in John bright street. Regularly saw Nigel Taylor and bates on 50 nite bus going back to Kings Heath. Great times but never thought all these people kicking around would be successful pop stars but fashion definitely, that's why it's ironic that fashion never became massive. By 1982 went into town and that golden time for me was over you could feel it, maybe I'd changed and got a job, I was lucky that for only a few years from 77 to 81 so much happened and witness so much including UB40.and remember I think most of us where 15 ,16 and 17 years old blagging our way into pubs and clubs just getting in to any club was a buzz.

My Favourite Fashion Tune. First heard this on a rare 80`s C.D i`ve got indoors with other Artists on it to. And when i`d heard this the first time, i fort wowww a amazing track and sooo catchy bassline and lyrics. Still sounds Excellent even today. And it`s a shame this never made the top 10. As this would be good. Even if it got re issue today, someone like Wil i am or Black eye peas. Could pull this off easy i recon. But the original is the best still :) Great work Fashion :)

I remember having this record and disliking it. Then, I heard it being played on Kroq and it immediately became my favorite song, not even realizing that I already owned the record. Sometimes it takes someone else playing the music, at the right place and time for you to like certain songs. What changed for me was the context. The song was playing on the beach, in a crowd, in the sun. In that context the song took on a whole new meaning and vibe.

The very first thing, that caught My Eye about this band and this track, was the duplicity of the label on the vinyl disc. It was minimal. 2 words in different places in the same font; Fashion and Fabrique. Who was the band and what was the album? I showed it to many who were equally dumbfounded. They liked the album though. So do I.

@palbearer The front man, Dee Harris left in summer 82 didn't he, this track Streetplayer is easily as good as early Spandau Ballet tracks which got much higher in the charts - perhaps Spandau had better manager or more backing from the record company?
