I mean, not to be the guy Christian was mocking earlier but interesting yet slightly disturbing fact. The uniforms are based off of Navy/Sailor uniforms (for women) and standard Military (for men). Its made for the point of instilling discipline as if the students were military service.

Really silly backstory but while I was in Japanese high school I had to literally wear the ugliest uniform ever. It was also a private catholic school (which is more common than you think in Japan!) so we did look like nuns c': My uniform was also not tailored and since I am not Japanese it did not fit at allllll so at least it's realistic in Anime I guess
