Great tips for all, thank you. I'm in my late 60s, obsessed with the French chic look and always have been. I've managed to acquire all the basics over the years and because they're all classic style, have served me well. Its a look for all ages too. I'm petite though and have to watch my weight carefully to keep looking good! Wish I had long legs, but my top half looks fine in boat neck and slash neck tops, so its all about compromise I guess!

the capsule wardrobe pieces are really nice especially the dresses. I see the Parisian woman's figure needs to be extremely slim and long, even boyish, so these clothes will not look appropriate on my shapely size 12.

Hi Mary, I honestly believe all shapes and sizes can make these styles work. I personally love curves on women, especially in that 40s old school Hollywood movie star kind of way. I think that looks incredibly chic. x

Marie Anne says choose a a top or piece with a little detail in it that is unusual. Pretty buttons, a little peep hole in the back, lace, anything that says unique. You can look on Sezane and find the pieces are full of those kind of things. I love their lace tops. Even the jeans and pants have a detail in them, buttons, high waist, turn over flaps and the beauriful belts all make for a unique look.

Hi Natalia, I'm starting to wonder if you might be another blogger trying to hate on my channel? However I think you may be barking up the wrong tree. I have nothing but support for every woman with their own channel on KZbin. French or otherwise. We are all essentially a one man band, styling, filming,editing so many videos, it's an awful lot of work. So I am only full of admiration for anyone else on KZbin doing the same.

How come 100% organic cotton is sustainable, when the cotton plant requires huge amounts of water (probably quite some nutrients as well) to grow? At this stage, the only sustainable option for making clothes is to reuse existing ones. In the worst case - make it 100% from recycled materials. Not meaning natural!!! The point is to save resources during manufacturing, not to stamp a fancy badge on whatever “organic item” to make it “fancier” and trendier. I myself love organic materials as well, but I understand that it’s because their feel and a bit luxurious vibe. I am fully aware and responsible for the fact that most likely they ARE NOT sustainable at all.

Hi Deborah, thanks so much for watching lovely:) Well I'm UK10 and I bought the blue and white version in small which fits perfectly. The only thing I'd say is it shrunk a little in the wash so I bought the red and white in a medium to counteract this. So that long waffle later I would advise sizing up, you don't want it to be tight but a little loose always works:) x

Great video. I have been a fan of french style for a while, and many of the styles recommended by Jess, I have have been building into my wardrobe. Living in Scotland I do struggle to wear them and to get them to work for me all the time, with the wet weather- white shirts and ballet pumps are a very different proposition in the colder and wetter April / May months in Scotland rather than in France. Any ideas on how I can capture a Parisian look when the temperature outside is constantly between 9-14 degrees?

Hi Simone, thanks so much for getting in touch and your lovely comment 😊 I know the feeling of that colder weather, it’s still not warmed up properly here either! No matter how much I beg for sunshine 😂 A nice alternative to the ballet flats would be either round toe ankle boots. Not silly high ones, I seem to see lots of practical heels about so really wearable. Another lovely idea I’ve seen a lot would be brogues. I personally prefer the slightly slimmer looking ones rather than anything too chunky. I think either of those with a nice Breton top and a blazer, cardi over your shoulders if it’s a little cold etc would look very chic. Hope that helps lovely and here’s to warmer days 🥂

I have so many of those classic pieces in my wardrobe - effortless style and dressing - really embracing all the warm neutral colours this winter - camel tan cashmere jumpers - purchased several beautiful silk scarves from Furla, combos of burnt orange black cream - blue tan cream - Furla has a stunning camel top handle bag I think you’d love. Take a look at the Australian brand Sportscraft they have some high quality classic pieces - I adore their Liberty cotton shirts and jeans - yesterday’s outfit was Sportscraft from head to toe. Country Road is another Aussie brand I think you’d love as well as Scanlon and Theodore - still looking for that Trench coat xx

@@FashionStyleEdit hi hon I have a few pieces from Seed not an awful lot - agrees their children’s range is brilliant - have far more pieces from Sportscraft and Country Road their knits are brilliant Merino wool cashmere alpaca and the like - I saw some lovely trench coats on Sezanne’s website are their sizes true to form - like both the tan and navy colours

Good morning Jess, tres Chic ❤. Lovely video. I love a tea dress, random story but I wore one to Bletchley Park a few years ago and we had afternoon tea there in the splendour of the 1940's style facilities, I felt very appropriate for the surroundings and era!! Awful period in history but wonderful for style. Hope you've got some warm sunshine up there 😀 xx

Hey lovely, that's so strange just yesterday I was watching 'A call to spy' and thinking the same thing about all the gorgeous outfits. I've never been to Bletchley Park but it sounds lovely for afternoon tea:) Do they do a full tour of everything? x

Not seen that one, yes, a wonderful clothing era. It's a great day out, if you like that sort of thing. We walked round ourselves, there's lots of info and recordings to listen to as you go around. It's so fascinating hearing about the super clever women that worked on the codebreaking and what hard work it was. It was roasting hot the day we went and we sat on the lawn with an ice cream and could hear spitfires overhead!! We looked to the sky in anticipation but realised they have speakers in the trees with all sorts of WW2 sound effects playing. The afternoon tea was yummy, had a lovely day there x
