Innovation is a fundamental aspect for Fassi Gru, and the company has always paid special attention to research processes in order to constantly improve the performance, reliability and safety of its cranes. As well as having its own research centre (which recently relocated to Nembro), Fassi also takes part in external initiatives with the most important stakeholders in the field of research. One such example is the long-term collaboration with the Intellimech Consortium, which led to Fassi’s recent participation in JOiiNT Lab, a mechatronics and advanced robotics laboratory. A meeting point for the research and business sectors, JOiiNT Lab is an initiative set up by Intellimech and IIT with the aim of verticalising the advanced robotics knowledge of IIT and applying it in various practical contexts. Nine Champion companies collaborate with the laboratory, Fassi being one of them. JOiiNT Lab has identified a range of themes that have a potential impact on a significant range of applications in a variety of industrial sectors; for each theme, the Champion companies have provided real-life practical scenarios for the technologies studied by the laboratory. Fassi is participating in the Robot-avatar case study which aims to enable physical activities to be carried out remotely. The first results of the research were presented at the Bauma trade fair, where the company set up the remote and delocalised operation of a crane in Dalmine from Munich.
