My favorite tool for clipping threads when chain piecing:
Bladesaver Cutter amzn.to/3ZvN7Q2
Cut your scraps into pieces quickly using Accuquilt! I cut my rectangles with the Accuquilt 8" Qube but you could also use the 2-1/2" x 4-1/2" Rectangle Die or other sized rectangle dies as long as the rectangle finishes twice as wide as it is tall (2x4, 3x6, 1-1/2x3). If you like playing around with geometry and putting together your own block designs, the Qubes are an awesome investment. You could play with them forever!

Thanks for watching! Yes, the black really lights up the bright colors. AccuQuilt is awesome… I didn’t think I’d like it because I thought you could only make their patterns. But I haven’t made one of theirs yet! I just use the shapes to put together all kinds of blocks. Now I don’t make a quilt without it! Please stick around 💚😎💚

Your ideas for strip piecing the blocks is great! I've seen a lot of different versions of potato chip quilts. Just what makes a quilt a potato chip quilt?
@CopycatQuilter

I am all about the fast and easy! Lol Brenda called them that… I think it’s just because of the old commercials “betcha can’t make just one!” Lol. You can check out her channel at Conquering Mount Scrapmore if you don’t know about her already. She does tons of free patterns and gave me permission to use the block in my videos. My next potato chip quilt will be patriotic with the 4.5" red square, surrounded by a layer of white, and then a layer of blue. I want sashing but not sure if it should be black, gray, or white.
@CopycatQuilter
@CopycatQuilter 8 ай бұрын
That sounds beautiful! I think the gray option could be nice because the white would mix with the rest of the white (if that makes sense, lol). A light gray would probably set off the navy nicely! Thanks for watching! Please subscribe if you haven’t or thank you if have already!

The problem with not trimming the snowball triangles is, if the quilt gets a lot of use, the fabric on top may wear/rub off. Had it happen.

@CopycatQuilter
@CopycatQuilter 11 ай бұрын
You didn’t miss them… I don’t plan my quilts in advance so I don’t know how much fabric I’ll need in advance. But I think on this one I used a fat quarter of each color and then some strips of black… probably close to a yard of the black. Sorry I can’t help more with that… I have enough fabric to last forever so I don’t worry too often about running out. Thanks for watching! I hope you try the pattern!

Thanks for watching Barbara. There isn’t a written pattern. The pieces are 2-1/2” by 4-1/2” and you arrange them the way the video shows. If you need more instruction you might try Conquering Mount Scrapmore with Brenda videos… I think she has several. 😎

I love the quilt so pretty but don’t understand why it is called a potato chip quilt (called crisps in Britain).
@CopycatQuilter
@CopycatQuilter 3 ай бұрын
I think it’s a combination of the blocks being regular in shape and then the fact you can’t just make one. It’s a pop culture reference to an old potato chip commercial that said “you can’t eat just one.” I’m not sure but I AM sure appreciative you watched! Please subscribe if you haven’t! 💚

don't cut your first strips 4 inches! they are 4 and 1/2!! She calls them 4 inch I guess because its the finished size, but, boy it made it confusing. Yes, she does correct it in very light print, at about the same time, but a lot of us LISTEN to the instructions. You could do a voice over in this 10 seconds of your video. Fair warning to other beginners.
