Very useful video, thanks! Aside from the Power Cruise Control app, what is the other app you are using to determine that the battery heating has started?
@chargedjourneys2 жыл бұрын
The other app is called WattCat, it’s available for Android only

Greet video. What software/app are you using to measure for the battery together which a obd dongle? Thanks

Hi Guido. I use the excellent app Power Cruise Control. It gives me data om battery temperature and charging speed

Which app do you use to measure the battery temp?

thanks for making the video........ Didn't realise how slow the iPace charging is..... do you have the latest software updates?

Hi Barry. This is a "cold weather" charging test. I deliberately charged the car with a cold battery to test and observe the battery heating process. Normally I would charge after a longer trip, and the battery should be somewhat warmer. When i drive in summertime or after a longer trip the peak charging speed is around 100kW. And yes I have the latest SW :-)

@@chargedjourneys Makes you realise the cost of re-charging is much more expensive in cold weather

EV charging in colder climates reminds us of the shortfalls of electrics... glad I have a petrol backup for my MY20 pace

There is no doubt that DC charging in cold weather is a challenge for many EVs, Including the I-Pace. But with a bit of planning and knowledge about how things like battery heating work, it doesn’t need to be so frustrating ⚡️😀 More and more cars, like Polestar, Tesla, and now soon the new Ioniq5, have automatic battery preheating en route to charging stations. This ensures full charging speed even in cold conditions. The Ipace system is a bit more “manual”, and requires more knowledge to fully understand and benefit from, but it kinda works 😉

its not clear what you did to get the battery to start heating. did you turn the internal heating on or off?
@chargedjourneys8 ай бұрын
Hi, Yes, I turn of the HVAC system of the car, because the battery heater runs on the same system. You have to chose between heating the battery or heating the cabin. You get the same effect if you turn off the car when fast charging (the battery heater starts) So usually I turn off the car and go and get a coffee or something ⚡👍

Can’t get more than 30 kw on my I pace… and that’s on 150kw charger:(
@chargedjourneys2 жыл бұрын
Hi. Look at the video, and do like I do. Turn off the HVAC system while charging, then the speed will increase. Generally the speed will be higher after a couple of hours motorway driving (more than 100kmh

next time turn on the hazard lights before you plug in the car, then you will get a better charging curve
