Fast Dire Bear Taming Guide :: Ark : Survival Evolved Tips and Tricks

In this video I show you how to tame dire bears, and some difficulty you may run into while taming them. Other than Tranq arrows killing around level 35 around 30% of the time, there isn't too much trouble taming this creature.
You wake up in the middle of nowhere, maybe it's a beach, a mountain, a forest, or a jungle, but it is no place that you have known. There is a strange device implanted into your arm. Welcome to the ark. The place where long extinct creatures eat you while you feebly try to survive. This series is my attempt to show you little things that will help you flourish.

You could do Liopleurodon next because around the end of July it got a huge boost that makes people keep it for 6 HOURS.

One thing not mentioned - their movement speed. It takes a few moments to build up momentum, but once you're at max speed, it's one of the fastest mounts in the game (significantly faster than a Gallimimus, for example).

You can also use the narcotic traps to get it partially knocked out then use a crossbow

Fun fact: you can keep up their hp when taming, simply build a trap, lure them in, and when theyre about to die...throw them a dodo or two, or just small carcases

My favourite dino in ARK, fast, powerful and a able to store a lot. Just getting back into ARK after a rest and can't wait to tame another. I used to go on absolute expeditions with my old one lol. The 3x3 square pillar set up is the easiest way to tame a Dire Bear in my opinion. I tamed mine with honey. If I remember rightfully honey is nearly as good as kibble to tame. Does the Dire Bears speed still increase overtime when you're running?

Back when my husband and I were on a server together I wanted a Dire bear so bad. I set up tranq traps to have it run through along with tranq arrows. It worked really well.

My absolute favorite land mount. I play on my solo map with modified settings and tamed a bear at lvl 120. Now my bear is lvl 235 and hits for 602 dammage on a swipe attack and no I didn't change any damage multipliers.

When i was a nooby i tamed one of these At the level of 40 - 50. Its level was 1 (Mobile Version - easy mode) after some weeks/months it became Pretty good for that mode (obvs i learned more And Restarted and played On hard mode) so i didnt tamed one after that. I was pretty sure i was gonna tame one If it wasnt stupid enough for the game to not let me play. Or In short. Game hates me. Soo yeah quit ark Last last month. If i ever come back ima Go tame these killers.

My Bear can kill almost anything not including a giga or titanosaur and all that, is that normal because I feel like it’s a bit strange how I can like 5 shot a low level rex and easily kill a high level one I found him at 150 (before tame boost) and maxed it out to 308 he does 1000% damage and has 12000 health and he feels way too strong for just a bear I play on single player so I’m confused is that normal or is there something wrong with my bear

My new favorite taming method is to use a Snow Owl to heal the wild animal when it looks like their health is getting too low. Then I just use my crossbow as usual.

For my fellow Bear tamers that want to use a decent crossbow always best to kill a creature nearby and leave its corpse near. While tranqing bear and it is attacking you lead it to corpse and while trying to attack you it will eat corpse and gain health.

I actually managed to tame a 140 dire bear with a crossbow and a magnifying glass. Admittedly, I got really lucky with the stats, but if you use the magnifying glass to wait for the torpor and health to rise, taming higher level bears can potentially be done. However, tranq darts are still the better option if you have them.
