Be nice to have a system that replaces the ignition system also. Coil on plug set up etc.. is the ECU capable of this? I understand it's not in the kit, but does it support extending it?

I plan on later this year / early next year installing on my 83. I recently got it going again after basically learning all the Datsun EFI bits. They moved stuff and changed almost every year :)

Every year the cars gained more electronics and controls which make things more confusing! The FAST system simplifies the EFI and uses all new sensors which are more readily available and cost effective.

It does not. Batch fire so all injectors pulse at the same time.

Can I cancel the idle screw in the throttle body and the ECU will adjust the idle by itself? I saw on other video a step on setting up the ECU that a bar on the handle needed to be set up Thanks

Unfortunately, the link to the product does not seem to work. How much will the product cost and will it improve mpg substantially? (I drive 45 miles to work one way & fuel efficiency is more important than power)

Link fixed. We have not tested the system extensively for MPG changes. I would guess picking up 10% in fuel economy would be fair to say. If the stock system is all working correctly you might not see much difference in fuel economy unless you lean out the cruise AFR on the FAST system. Changing the idle, cruise or WOT air fuel ratio target only takes about 20 seconds on the handheld input device. If this target were leaned out in cruise mode I would think it is possible to pick up 3-5 mpg (maybe more) over a good working stock EFI system.

The air/fuel ratio can be altered on this system to run as lean as you would like at cruise speeds for optimal MPG.

Nice system. Is the idle speed screw on the throttle body still used for base idle and then the IAC makes corrections for, say, the A/C kicking on or allowing fast idle during cold start-ups or does the IAC completely control all idle conditions? Thanks :-)

The IAC will control all of the idle functions and does have compatibility with A/C. In the setup the computer will allow you to set the throttle blade at the ideal location for the IAC to work. There is a cold start fuel additive that can be custom taylored.

IAC will control all idle. You select a target idle RPM that it will maintain. So if you turn A/C on and it pulls the engine down, the IAC can open more to increase idle RPM back up to the target RPM.

@@interdigitate Basically need to create a small air leak somewhere in the intake. You could run a basic air bleed valve off of a vacuum port or Some have drilled a small hole in the throttle body blade.

How do you connect the green fuel pump relay wire from the ECU, given that the stock fuel pump relay is eliminated?

On some years the stock fuel pump relay can be retained as it is not a part of the ECU and wiring. The green wire from the FAST ECU is a signal wire to turn on the fuel pump once the ECU sees power. It is preferred to run the green wire to a relay and then to the pump.

Within a few inches after all of the pipes converge is ideal. Also mount the sensor coming in from the top or side, not the bottom of the pipe.

This sytem does not work with a turbo. It can only be used with a 1 bar MAP sensor which cannot be used with boost.

This kit will work on any 75-83 datsun 280Z/ZX (non turbo). Replaces all of the EFI wiring and sensors for a complete EFI conversion.
