How professional your videos have become Pete, so glad to see that. That is also really amazing to see that you are using the explanation of some words and slightly fading them away. I am gonna have a look back and watch ! Great job legend...

This was like a test for me, defentily Australian :) Once in a bar at a ski resort in the States, it was a little noisey not to bad and I ask the bartenderr what they have on tap. But the way I said it was 'What cha got', She goes sorry and I repeat with the same line not thinking and she says sorry again. So I go, What have you got? Prenoucing each word clear. She goes, Ohhh, I thought you said 'Watch your Watch'. I forget we talk like this and fast too at times and expect others to fully understand us. For others learning Australian english, Pete does a great job explaining it and is spot on with the way most Australians speak (General accent) even with that Melbourne Victorian slight twang :) To keep to the theme with this vid. With See you Later, I've often contract that even more to just S'Later, so Slater.

I noticed that you guys (Aussies) pronounce the R at the end of words like in; 'see u later' Of course u don't pronounce it very strong like americans, but it's not quite like in british either. This is already one of the differences I noticed between Australian and British English which is really cool cuz I'm learning a little bit of both.

I’ll move to Australia ~Melbourne~ from Italy in a few months and your videos and podcasts are so helpful! My father was Australian so some of these expressions are familiar (not “tata” though! That’s so cute ahah). Also I almost spilled my coffee when I heard “ciao” but then I remembered Australia is full of Italians so :D Anyway your work is really appreciated and also well done, looking forward to supporting on Patreon soon!

Aussie English I’ve been to St. Kilda and It was beautiful. Carlton is also amazing (pizza wise :D) The other option is where my father grew up which is around the Maribyrnong area. I loved Melbourne so much I think I’m gonna be fine even on a boat on the Yarra!!!!

In portuguese we general use the word "falou",its more common men to say with others men,it's like a "Peace" ou "Peace out" I think, it's very very informal.

Just some questions:1- regarding the greetings, if we start the conversation, we should say those you said. But if we are the second one what should we say? I mean how can we reply to the greetings you said? 2- Could you tell us what kind of camera do you use to shoot the VLOGs? I like the quality.

Hi mate! Could you tell me why the sound "R" at the end of hello? ... like "helloR" !!! It also happens with "know - KnowR" or "so - SoR". Do you know what I mean? Is it a natural sound? ... Am I getting crazy? haha I learned American English and the sound of these words are different! Thank you / "tha"

Interesting observation there Marco. It’s definitely an Aussie feature I’ve noticed in the younger generation of Aussies. I asked a few of them about it and they seemed to have no awareness of it! Haha! So good luck getting an answer.

Your podcasts are really useful, however I can hardly understand people speaking without articulation. Some seem to me pronouncing randomly combined vowels only.

Yes...I have heard it pronounce that way. As a native speaker, can you fully understand someone who speaks as fast as the one we see in the earlier part of this video?
@BarryMcCarthy35106 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your input mate but what you heard is because your Listening Skills are not strong enough yet to hear the difference between 'G'day mate' and what you heard as 'Good Die...'G'day mate' has a very distinct Aussie use of the final sound of the vowel 'a' (ay, aye, ate, eight, day, say, may, mate, crate..a distinct Ay sound. 'Good Die' 'Die' is a very distinct sound of the vowel Letter 'I' sounds like eye, die, fry, try, cry, my, might, fight, flight, light etc. Suggestion here is to spend time actually listening to audio of the Australian use of VOWELS/CONSONANTS (which differ from British/American sounds and use). Also unique to Aussie English is the way we often finish a sentence, we tend to raise' the last word which to British/Americans is confusing to them as it sounds more like a question rather than a statement or can be interpreted that the person listening really understands, the Brits aren't so keen on Aussie English but the Americans are (when they can work out that there is more than just american style of English spoken around the world) We call our unique spoken English 'the Aussie Inflection'
