This is what I'm looking for! I'm Japanese living in Sydney, still struggling for listening to fast native speakers. Learning these theories really help me when heading in real conversations.

love your work! even convinced the husband to join in listening :) btw, question.. why does it seem that aussie (or maybe native english speakers in general) ask some things in past tense ? Examples: Did you want me to do this or do that? Did you say what your name was… ? Did you want to drive to somewhere? Or maybe I misheard them? is it a way to sound more polite?

@@AussieEnglishPodcast yeah thank you again. TYPICALLY I am interested in Aussie slang, I like the way they speak and shortening words. I would like to improve my listening skills as well.

That was my idea, thank you soo much for this video Pete! Also, you may do part 2 and part 3 and perhaps more with contractions in fast English. I love your content and I really recommend it for everyone, I love Australia and it's culture, you guys are amazing!!! Many greetings from Romania, stay safe btw, waiting for the next video with contractions, heaps mate! #SubscribeToAussieEnglish

Cheers, Dragos! I really appreciate it. What other contractions would you like to learn? And I think you're one of the first Romanians following me that's said "G'day!" so that's awesome :D

@@AussieEnglishPodcast I've heard contractions from your father when I was watching *The Goss* videos, like *How about you (contracted)* and many other words. Perhaps I may be the first Romanian here so that's awesome :D. Keep up the good work and stay safe, btw Melbourne is absolute beauty! Cheers!!!

Cheers, mate! I'm working out the next lot of videos on contractions soon, so might have to do some common phrases like "how about you" :D

The most challenging for me is pronouncing the cluster “TL” (flap T+dark L) that we have in “kettle” “little” ect. If you could help us on that that would be great Pete 😊 I know it has nothing to do with contraction 😅
@pssilva39733 жыл бұрын
Add an schwa before the L. For example, /kettul/, /littul/, etcetera.

@@AussieEnglishPodcast Pete, how do you say 'I'll' in your English accent? (I'm not kidding.I really want to know).
@AussieEnglishPodcast3 жыл бұрын
As in, with the light L or dark L? You could use either. Partly, it'll depend on what the next word is.
