Thanks for this tutorial Joe! Seeing you mask out one side of the flash pop finally made sense to me. I also like your trick of using Lighten mode for the back rooms. Thanks!!

Hello Joe, great video as always, I like how you talked about the flash power, and how you always have to experiment with it. I noticed that you do not auto align layers, do you find that it’s not really necessary? Or actually do it and not show it?
@joefoto
@joefoto Жыл бұрын
I rarely need to auto align because I only touch camera to turn trigger on. But now started to show that step in new tutorials.

Joe, Thank you for continuing to show us the way!! lol Im very new at this and have been practicing at my my house. I had my first shoot last week and it didnt go well. I have been playing with both HDR and Flambient, just to see the differences. I have to say, I love the Flambient way and how you process the images. I would love to send you some photos for you to critique.

I just came across your channel after watching scores of videos trying to move beyond HDR and learn how to shoot and edit real estate photos with the flash and ambient layers in Photoshop (just started a trial after deciding to go for it to learn Photoshop). First, I like the sign on the top of your laptop! Put it out there boldly! I was thinking about how to switch the shutter speed for the flash shot without touching the camera (I have been considering shooting an HDR bracket and using that as the base ambient layer, then shooting a flash shot). I found an app on Android that is very slick and reasonable ($7.99 lifetime use). It's called Camoodoo and works well with my SONY a7ii. It enables switching quickly from bracket mode to single shot. The flash will need to be turned off and on for this process, but the camera dials don't need to be moved. I have a cheap Godox flash whose camera-mounted trigger doesn't need to be turned off and on, just the actual flash unit. I subscribed and will be checking out your other vids. Thank you for sharing your tips and techniques with the community!

Wonderful! Yes, get away from HDR! Lol. Yes, get an app. Sony has an app that is really good. The response time is fast! But if you find another one that works then go with that. So yes, that's all you'll need to be able to control everything right from your phone. Let me know how you make out and thanks for subscribing! And thanks for noticing the sticker ;)

I've shot all of my property interiors using bracketed images and masking windows to clear them up, but wondering if it takes significantly longer to use this method? Bracketing is quick and simple but I don't always have the best lighting conditions so it can take extra time to try and fix shadows with masking. Also do you have any tutorials about your 'final bump' and other presets?
@joefoto
@joefoto 3 ай бұрын
I actually a lot of times do a manual 3 bracket at 2 stops apart and then pop a flash for my windows. And getting accurate color by using color and darken mode on my flash layer. Go watch my last 3 videos. I do have a tutorial on many of my videos on how to do a final bump but that's all personal taste too.

I’m curious to know, do you need Lightroom first to do all that?
@joefoto
@joefoto 10 ай бұрын
Not really, photoshop has a camera raw editor, but then I don't know how you would get certain images in as layers. I've always ever seen it done this way.

The shadow behind the lamp in LR is not possible from natural light sources. IMHO the whole deal is to fool the RE buyer into thinking they are buying what is real lighting wise (even though it is not).
