I am by no means an expert of the rules but isn't it forbidden to make more than 1 defensive move? Pagenaud made 2 and it looked like Rossi was close enough to make the pass without all the tow breaking. I mean Simon ran great all month and he would have deserved 100% to win this race but to make a move like this on the last lap of an Indy 500 is unfair and disgusting imo. Especially because he probably wouldn't have won without it. Edit: amazing race though, so exciting last laps.
@flyingdutchman9165 жыл бұрын
he would have still won, rossi admitted it in the post race interview. they asked if he wished they could go another 10 laps and he said "no, the outcome would be the same. he just had more power." and hey, its the last lap of the 500, any driver in the lead would do the same. they would rather die than just hand it over.

@rexstetson17175 жыл бұрын
Great race yesterday, but really disappointed by the poor sportsmanship of a few of the drivers. I thought Rossi’s tantrum when his fuel rig wouldn’t connect was disrespectful to his crew. Even though the wreck was 100% Sebastian Bourdais’s fault, Graham Rahal showed what a punk he is by gesticulating wildly at Bourdais before he even knew whether Bourdais had been hurt or not in the crash. And Will Power once again showed that he is the biggest crybaby in the sport when called race control a disgrace. Typically Indycar drivers are pure class. Not yesterday. Happy to see a gentleman like Pagenaud win.
@ShmuelWeintraub5 жыл бұрын
I was disappointed with the antics of several drivers yesterday too. I don't agree that the Rahal/Bourdais accident was all on SB... Rahal barely got his front wheel level with Bourdais' rear wheel. Not sure what the spotters were telling either of them, but that move was never on. SB took his normal line because he had no idea Rahal had made that idiotic late move... somebody on the roof somewhere should have been on the radio to him to tell him (assuming it wasn't already too late). Even when the driver trailing is an American and the guy in front is not, it's still the overtaking driver's responsibility to make sure the move is done safely. That move was never on.
@cnelsonlv9995 жыл бұрын
Yea... agree with you! As an American, it is kind of embarrassing that the American drivers (Rahal, Rossi) come across as spoiled brats! Wish they would learn how to act with the kind of class you see from guys like Pagenaud... whether he wins or loses.
@daveinindy5 жыл бұрын
... well then, just be glad that you never heard some of AJ's tirades (at his crew, at fellow drivers, at race officials, etc.). I'm willing to cut the drivers some slack when they are in the heat of the moment. As it turned out, the race officials got most/all of their calls right. I certainly agree that it's refreshing to see a gentleman like Pagenaud win - but I also think Power behaves as a gentleman (team radio chatter? they should be able to vent a bit). Even Graham Rahal seemed to temper his tantrum a bit when he arrived at Bourdais' car - making sure he was OK and tapping his helmet gently; although the theatrics to the crowd before and after? bush league.
