I hope Derek doesn't mind if I say this, but I was able to reach out to a couple of his family members to check on him and he is totally okay. I was told he is just taking a break from riding right now. We miss ya Derek, hope you get back on the saddle soon!

I mean at this point I'm just going to assume that he passed away. It's been nearly 4.5 years since we last heard from him. I doubt that he would've just stopped everything unless he either passed away or something horrible happened in his life.

@@officebear4637 Me too, he hasn't uploaded anything on his Instagram either since 2017... It's a shame, he really seemed like a nice guy and I enjoyed interacting with him when he was still around about mine and his FZ-09. He didn't seem to go that fast on his videos and stayed relatively safe in my opinion, but shit can always happen regardless. I really hope I'm wrong about him.

Hey Derek. Thick gravel like that is like riding on a road of ball bearings. Glad all worked out. Glad to be a subscriber. Thanks.

I notice this with a lot of motorcycle channels that like to knee drag on the street, regular uploads and then...nothing. I'm not saying he died, but I sure am thinking it loudly. It's the biggest mistake to think skill can overcome the randomness of the street. Gravel in the street is not an excuse for going down, if you're riding too fast to see gravel and react to it, you're just plain going too fast. Racetracks are the only place where you can go full lean and live to tell about it.
@officebear46373 жыл бұрын
NunyaBusiness yeah that's sadly what I'm thinking too.

@@nunyabusiness896 I am part of the original group that was long in place before Derek ever came along. The Original Amigo's all took chances far greater than anything that was ever filmed by him. And we are all still here. You keep playing it safe though if that's what works for you. Just don't let it go to your head that you have any idea what you are talking about. Because you absolutely do not. I'm afraid there are bigger things standing at the gate to the next dimension than Nunyabusiness. 25 Years of dragging knee where Death is Certain signing off now.

A good pair of sunglasses is definitely worth investing in! Not that it always helps of course, sometimes luck just isn't on your side :/

I ride with a few guys that wear sunglasses. I run a blue tinted visor on my AGV helmet but sometimes the glare can just hit you in the face and no pair of glasses or shield will help. Just one of those things I guess. I would rather be lucky than good as they sometimes say. Thanks for the comment and ride safe out there.

Dude...I was literally watching a few of your videos at the gym tonight while I was riding a spin bike. I have been looking at the BMW S 1000 XR and from the looks of your videos and others, that is one badass motorcycle! I rode a pretty hooked up 2016 BMW S1000RR a few weeks ago and can't imagine how fun that motor and chassis would be in an upright position like the XR. I love the quick shifter and auto blip. I'm pretty sure that is my next street bike. A crash like in this video can happen to anyone, as you know. The color of the gravel and the sun made it virtually impossible to see it. So thankful no injuries were sustained and motorcycles can always be fixed. Thanks for checking out the channel and I dig your videos. Ride safe.
