Stoltec is a great company. Always have had positive results with their products. I run their heavier springs in the front of my fz09 since I'm over 200 with gear and it really helped. I also swapped in a zx10r rear shock, and it made a world of difference in the way the bike behaved in rougher corners. Bike looks great and look forward to hearing your opinion on those rear sets. 👍👍

Yeah, I had a great experience purchasing from Stoltec, even had a hand written thank you note in the box, cool little touch. Will certainly buy from them again without a doubt. And they do sell Penske suspension.... Thanks for the input and I appreciate you watching.

Just got back from Laguna Seca. Had some time to do some catch up reading. Great picture of you at VIR on page 49. Planning a track day in September. The tour lap was tease. The track pavement is so sweet, great grip. Can't wait to get the FZ on the track for real. Ride safe.

I am not gonna lie. I am a bit jealous you got to go to Laguna, that's awesome. I have heard the grip there is crazy good, like you mentioned. That's funny you saw that picture in RoadRacing World. Pretty crazy but very cool at the same time. I was at Barnes and Nobles to pick up the latest issue and was flipping through and saw that. I bought a few copies. My wife had the page copied and framed and it's hanging in my office. Kinda neat.

Looking forward to seeing those parts in action. I'm not going to upgrade the suspension on mine but there's a ton of info on fz09.org. Guys have had success with a few different brands. I think there are even a few that took stock suspension from much more expensive bikes and bolted them on the FZ.
@fastfz09767 жыл бұрын
Yeah for sure. I'm looking forward to trying everything out. The new throttle and rearsets will feel different but should be an improvement over stock. There is a lot of good info out there like you mentioned on the suspension topic. That's next on the list as on now. Thanks for watching and appreciate you checking out the video. Ride safe.

Hey Heavy D, For my suspension I went with an Italian company, MUPO. They were pretty expensive, $3100 AUD installed. MUPO - AB2 Shock MUPO - Cartridge Kit R-Evolution K911 I don't think I felt much difference besides the stiffer riding feel. I should have spent more time with the stock suspension and upskilled longer before making the purchase. I had just come across some money and decided to spoil myself. Looks super trick though 👌 And a few experienced friends who have ridden my bike now think it's amazing.
@fastfz09767 жыл бұрын
I hear ya big baller...lol. That setup sounds awesome! I'll check that out; sounds super trick. I have ridden top rate suspension on a track bike that I co-owned with a buddy a few years back. It was Penske front and rear. As with anything you get what you pay for, motorcycle suspension is no different. Thanks for the recommendation and appreciate you watching. Ride safe.

Glad to see the FZ get some love man haha. I agree with you about the suspension, the stock stuff is definitely adequate, it's nothing great but it's also nothing bad (at least for a skinny 130lb dude like myself). If I were to upgrade tho I'd definitely go with andreani front cartridge kit and ohlins rear shock. The one thing I really really want for my bike tho is a steering damper. It's given me a tank slapper and a few wobbles here and there before and that's absolutely terrifying lol. And man those rear sets are awesome, I want some haha.
@fastfz09767 жыл бұрын
The Andreani kit and Ohlins shock seem to be a very popular choice and for good reason, that's a great setup for sure. The steering damper is a worthwhile addition too. I don't get freaked when the bars move, I think that comes from riding dirt bikes where the bars are constantly moving but a damper is without a doubt the safe way to eliminate those butt puckering speed wobbles. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the great feedback. Ride safe man.

I'll be interested in the suspension set up you go with. Still trying to decide on a set up. Stock is not too bad for the canyons, but still a bit bouncy during fast cornering...
@fastfz09767 жыл бұрын
Hey man, thanks for watching. I have a fairly good idea what I think I'm going to end up getting but additional feedback from other riders is always welcome and good to hear. Stock is not nearly as bad as the internet would have riders believe but for fast track riding aftermarket components would be an improvement. Thanks for checking out the video. Ride safe.

@bryanboyce90367 жыл бұрын
Another good vid Fast. What do you have on your seat presumably to help the slope into the tank?
@fastfz09767 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the positive feedback. The seat pad is made by a company called TechSpec. It's simply a 3M backed adhesive pad that helps to fill in the gap found in the stock seat. I prefer a seat to feel flat when I'm riding and moving around on the bike and that pad helps to give that feel that I want. Thanks for watching.

Great video as always. I'm a little pissed off since things didn't really work out for me. One of my friends gave up on buying that S1000RR to flip it and the guy we were supposed to get that ZX6R from decided he'd sell it for more so I backed out. Pfff. Currently spotting a '11 ZX-10R. Contacted my insurance company though to see if it's worth it. Don't want to pay $1k-1.5k in insurance per season or something crazy. Speaking of crazy that bike had a crapton of upgrades. Power-Commander V, ignition timing, Woolich Racing Tune, new ignition coils, 520 RK chain, "Brock's Performance Alien Head" full exhaust system (it says "stupid fast" on the muffler ahah), lightweight battery, quickshifter, vortex sprockets, Michelin Pilot Power 3's, woodcraft racing engine covers, frame and swing arm sliders, hot bodies tail, integrated signals, plate relocate, Pazzo levers, Öhlins damper, Luimoto seats, tank grips, and scheduled valve check done in 2016 and the guy has all the paperwork for the work done. Sorry for the long message ahah but yeah it seems to be quite a beast of a bike. $5900 USD and it has around 16 300 miles on it. What do you think about that one? Worth it?
@fastfz09767 жыл бұрын
That bike is pretty hooked up sounds like. It's hard for a seller to recoup the money they sank into mods if they sell the bike. But as a potential buyer that's awesome if the bike is already hooked up because you reap all the performance gains without paying full price upfront. Bikes like you are describing are typically setup like that by individuals that tend to maintain and take care of their bikes too. Sounds like a damn good motorcycle.
@officebear46377 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply. What do you think about his pricing? $5900 USD and it has around 16 300 miles on it.
@fastfz09767 жыл бұрын
That price is in line with the condition of the bike based on the description. Without seeing a bike in person it's impossible to say for sure, but if the bike is clean and has been properly maintained that's not a bad price.

Yeah it's a real tragedy. We met Nicky at the Indy MotoGP race way back in 08.' He was so personable and not cocky the way some top riders are, and remember he had won the MotoGP championship two years earlier in 2006. He was real cool and took time to talk to us. We have met his father Earl at VIR a few times at the American Superbike races and you could see why his sons turned out the way they did, great guy. The mods are coming along. I am waiting for another part to ship from England, should be here in a few days. I plan to do an update video before too long. Thanks for the comment and ride safe.

Hey Derek, how do you like the Driven rearsets? I took my FZ-09 to the track yesterday for the first time and was dragging my toes and pegs like crazy.
@fastfz09767 жыл бұрын
I love the rearsets. I am running the Driven TT model. I do run them on the highest and farthest back setting available and I do run GP Shift as well. Even cranked over near max lean, with the rearsets your toes will not drag. And the pegs are fixed and not folding so you have much more feel on the balls of your boots. Awesome product, can't recommend them enough. Awesome to hear you got that FZ out on track.
@awhopbamboo7 жыл бұрын
Just pulled the trigger on them, thanks man! The FZ-09 is such an underrated track bike. I was keeping up with tricked out R6’s with no problem
@awhopbamboo7 жыл бұрын
Also, I saw that you mentioned the new Dunlop Q3+ to somebody. Those are the tires that I used at the track and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I can’t say anything about longevity yet but they look like they’re going to hold up great!
@fastfz09767 жыл бұрын
Awesome man. That's an great choice, I love Driven products in general. I agree. I have done quite a few track days on my FZ, with the stock suspension and stock rearsets. I have yet to get to the track with my new stuff as of yet. All the track day videos on the channel are shot when I was riding the stock stuff. The FZ-09 is very underrated. At certain tracks with the right rider, the FZ on proper tires will smoke an R6. Once the speed gets up faster than say 120 or so the R6 will start to stretch its legs a bit as it reaches peak torque. Check out a few of our track videos if you get a chance. Awesome you love this bike as much as I do.
@fastfz09767 жыл бұрын
I have ridden several sets of Dunlop Q3s and loved em. I have not ridden the Q3+ yet but it gets great reviews. I currently run the Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP V2 which are even stickier than the Dunlops. Another difference is the Dunlop tire carcass is much stiffer than the Pirelli carcass. The Pirelli sidewalls flex under load. It takes some getting used to as I have mainly been a Dunlop guy for years. Both awesome tires and either choice you can't go wrong. They are both badass sets of rubber.

I'm looking for tires for my fz09. Do you have any recommendations
@fastfz09767 жыл бұрын
Hey, great question and thanks for watching. I don't commute at all on my FZ so the tires I run are based solely on performance and not longevity. On the street, up in the mountains, it's hard to beat Dunlop Q3s. They have excellent dry and wet weather grip, the profile is not too peaked so the tip in is very predicable and perfectly suited for street riding. The new Dunlop Q3+ has been recently released and I will be buying a set for my FZ. It's rated to have 20-30% more edge grip than the original Q3 with even better milage. For the track I like to run Pirelli Diablo SP V2 tires. They are softer than the Q3 and can be run with or without tire warmers. The grip level of that tire is amazing and the profile is more peaked than the Dunlop so the bike falls into the corner faster. They don't last as long due to softer rubber and are worthless in the rain, pretty much a dry weather only tire. Just my take, hope this helps and ride safe. Appreciate you checking out the channel.

Fast FZ09 you're welcome. great vids! whats your opinion on high speed head shake? I get small amounts above 80mph. it might be the highway though.
@fastfz09767 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the late response, been busy with work the last few weeks. I don't run a dampener so my bike has a bit of head shake under hard direction changes, say like in a tight switchback section of road or track where you are going from full lean to the opposite direction. The more you ride it like that the less noticeable it becomes. As for high speed head shake, the best solution would be to run the clip on bar kit offered by WoodCraft. The mod places more weight over the front, more like a faired sport bike and calms the front shake down at high speeds. Just my thoughts, hope this helps and ride safe man.
