Wow! This is all so validating to me. I had my first fainting spell at age 11(1994-95). I spent several years in and out of doctors to no avail. They barely even had a NAME for this stuff back then. I honestly gave up on getting any help and just sorta LIVED with it for 20+ years. A couple years ago it got WAY worse. And I finally got a dx of EDS this year. I cant believe how many of these things are JUST NOW being tied to it.

10:00 How common is it for patients with low blood volume to also be anemic, or have insufficient ferritin levels?

I've never had a doctor test me for more than a few minutes. After they just told me to eat more salt for my low blood pressure and get up slower for the lightheadedness and blackouts. Or they don't believe my heart is 124 when resting. they just tell me to relax or calm down, over and over. Haven't bothered going back to a doctor to try and figure out why, in a decade. I learned at a young age not to do any robust cardo, and how to balance when i get lightheaded. The only reason I'm watching is I almost had a heart attack today. I didn't realize how hot it was out and tried to do yard work. Interesting talk, I'll look into this. I'd like to stay around to watch my grandchildren grow up.

I for the longest had a blood pressure so high that everyone (Nurses and doctors) ask “How are you still alive!?” It would normally be 276/198 or higher, and I FELT FINE! ….but it caught up to me like a speeding car and a brick wall! I noticed quickly that just standing in the bathroom I start getting lite headed, and dizzy, even nauseous and QUICKLY need to get back to my AC in my room, with a fan on me! Now… my blood pressure seems normal “167/112 with my pulse being 112 on up to 124… and now I can’t even stop to get gas! I’d walk into the store and quickly notice my legs wanting to quit on me! And I start feeling….just weird! As I start pumping gas (this being what happened recently) I couldn’t do it… I started feeling so bad I didn’t know if I should sit in the car to wait (for $7 worth of gas) or try to wait… I chose to wait, but I was TERRIFIED to get to the drivers seat to get ac going, and when I did… I was then terrified…”Am I going to be ok?!“ I was legit scared that I was going to pass out or worse… right there at the gas pump! Now… I am in such bad shape, I doubt I can even get to the hospital…

I have low blood pressure and a high pulse. I always feel wired but tired. I have noticed when I'm eating well and exercising moderately, I feel pretty damn good. I've recently had surgery and have been really inactive and I'm noticing my symptoms of faintness, sensitivity to heat and my legs feel like jello and like they will give out on me. I have to conclude my symptoms worsen when I'm inactive. What's your experience with exercising? Do your symptoms improve? Eating healthy? Or are you symptomatic regardless?

I don't know if I have EDS or Marfan's syndrome, my mother is diagnosed with Marfan's syndrome in 1995 with little follow up. I was unsuccessful pursuing a diagnosis. I just got a tilt table test and they saw POTS and I was ecstatic. I'm very excited to be able to be treated. I am so grateful there is good research for EDS; there is hardly any of any use for Marfan's except immediately obvious cases which to me means severe or far progressed, which I don't seem to have but the comorbid issues are many. I can't even remember when the POTS symptoms started but they have slowly worsened and I have started to faint from both OI and vasovagal. It is so frustrating to have my body react so extremely to upsetting situations but I am hoping POTS treatment it gets better- I think they feed each other. I just got up to get the oven the other day and smacked my shin at the same time and got halfway to a faint. Thank god I keep a stool in the working area of the kitchen.

Yikes, yeah, I did the standing against the wall thing, and I didn't even last 5 minutes before I started to see colourful stars and the background go black and I had to go sit down. So I got diagnosed with POTS. My hands are usually okay, but after I shower, my feet get swollen and red. I sew, and was able to make myself a bathing suit that has long legs extra tightness (like leggings attached to a top for a one piece, and zippers in the legs to make it easier). I was always told it was just low blood pressure and anxiety until then. Makes sense. I'm currently on a weight list for a connective tissue clinic, but it will probably take months. So I found school from home was great since I use a La-Z-Boy chair and it's big enough I can sit cross legged, and I find the rocking helps. I've used stimulants before, mostly for ADHD and brain fog, but it caused my temperature sensitivity to get worse, so I'll have to be really careful. And my GP doesn't believe it exists, so that's not fun. I got diagnosed at a clinic for chronic illness, and they're good, but trying to get me to go back to the GP.

Midodrine did nothing for me. I have low bp and tachycardia and diagnosed OH on tilt table. Fludrocortisone caused me significant permanent adrenal damage. You aren't supposed to take steroids chronically unless you have to or it would be fatal or if your adrenals are already messed up and require it or they mess up your adrenals. I never tried Northera. I put my feet up often in reclining position, have used compression socks, increase salt and fluid (water and gatorade only) intake.

I'm detoxing off of midodrine now. For 2 years it was a life savor then all of a sudden, i had almost every severe side effect. Now i just don't know what to do.

Thankyou, very informative presentation. With this knowledge, I can see that my EDS aware cardiologist is treating my Dysautonomia as well as he can. Propranolol was terrible good for a while then turned terrible, metoprolol works great, ivabradine was terrible as well. fludrocortisone definitely helps a bit, going to be tried on midodrine and IV's. and it's almost all in here :)

Peace be upon you. I have a rise in tryptophan 14 and sometimes a decrease in the temperature of 34My blood pressure drops to 80-40, especially when sitting and lying down and I have a pulse of up to 200 and the hands and feet are constantly cold even in the summer and sometimes very excessive activity and longevity with a greater percentage of lethargy and general fatigue and I did an atomic scan on the body and Magnetic resonance imaging of the brain, EEG, prolonged EEG, Holter 24 hours, tablet test, CT scan of the chest, Echo, EKG, blood picture, sodium, potassium, magnesium, cortisol stimulator, aldesterone, Free T3, Free T4, Parotheroid hormone, ACTH, TSH, and immunoassays for ANA, C3, C4, and IGe, and no one knows whether they are rare syndromes in the body of certain acids, neurotransmitters or enzymes. I do not know. Please help and thank you very much. And sometimes automatically I bring back my memories of 25 years ago and I am 28 and they come up with major events and when I remember that they come right after every two minutes and sometimes I arrange the events again and say this is the last time but I can't and I remember the same I apologize to you that I did not have the honor to meet you and wrote you. I accidentally saw your lecture on KZbin because I am from Egypt and there is no doctor who knows me who can diagnose me and I do not leave the house at all except on an emergency basis and they cannot diagnose and only stress reasons and even at home I am sick and I do not sleep because of that When I sit or sleep in a lying position, the pressure drops suddenly 40 degrees frequently and every day I have been like this for 3 years and the first two years I used to work and resist, but now the fatigue has increased very much and I cannot sleep from the low pressure and 3 times I wake up more than 7 days and I do not know What's wrong with me, thank you and I'm sorry again, thank you
