I did this by rounding up doing the multiplation instantly, then take away to get down to exact answer. Sometimes that is much faster than verdic with instant answer but sometimes it's slower. Then again I can do traditional method in my head with no pen or paper which saves time.

@@blumonke9079 for example 36x56 -> 40x56 Here you added +4 to get a round number (in this case the number 40) multiply this: 40x56 = 2240 But because you added +4, you should do: -4x56 to get 36 back. -4x56 = -224 The answer is 2240-224 = 2016

i find it a lot more comfortable if you do the umbrella first, then the rest of the process, so that you can do it in the mind without having to write on paper. 38 * 92 just do 3*2+8*9 = 78 and remember 78 in your mind multiply 3*9=27 and add it to the ten's place of 78 multiply 8*2=16 and add it to the tenth's place of 78 what goes on in my mind: 6 72 (merge numbers together) *78* 27 (merge in the proper place) *348* 16 (merge in the proper place) *3496*

For a small number like that u might also do 38x92= 30x100+8x62= 3000+496
