Caught my first perch today. Little 10 incher. Gave it to mother in law cause I didn't want to deal with it. I'll give this recipe a try soon. Going fishing this weekend.

Lovely technique for cleaning with zero waste. I reckon this would just as well on saltwater porgies and will give it a try.

I haven't been fishing in probably 27 years, but I have a 6 year old and decided to take her. Her first fish was a lovely perch.

Great video. I was taught to grill the fish until the eyes go white. I have never tried perch, but I definitely wouldn't mind giving it a go! Thanks, brother. Pete 🏴

That is a great video we have caught 30 to 40 at a time and I really like the way you cleaned those. then cast iron seasoning etc. I have two sharp fillet knives in my boat and well be sure and put a nylon cutting board in there and clean them at the lake . Good job

Great method, planning to try it soon. While I live in southeast Manitoba I fish mostly in Northwestern Ontario north of Kenora. How do you target large spring Perch and what bait or method? Have a great fishing season. I’m actually from North Bay On, raised in Kipawa QC. Steve (68 yrs)

I will be doing them this way all the time now. I'm done trying to get a filet off the little ones. But I will use my deep fryer instead of a pan.

I'm serioulsy concerned I'd cut myself trying to clean such a small fish so its good to see it in action here first. From what I hear yellow perch is the best pan fish in the US.

Love fish but I hate bones in fish, and I was dubious, but it really did look like the meat just about fell off.

Don't take the skin off! it's delicious! Goes crispy and tasty like chicken skin

Yellow Perch, in my experience at least, are difficult to scale, so I skin them and bullheads. I do scale black bass and sunfish and leave the skin on trout (no need to scale trout and salmon as they have very fine scales) though and you're right, the skin does fry up nice and crispy.

Best to gut and bleed the fish before going home, bleed by just cutting the throat. After bled out open gill covers and cut the top part that connects the gills to head, then open stomach and push everything towards the head of the fish and rip the gills out, guts and everything come out with the gills.

Make sure you have a fish filet knife... or else there's going to be a ton of waste.

He is not filleting the fish, he is pulling the skin off by hand, any sharp knife will work to cut fins off.
@buckcommander677 Жыл бұрын
Yes I agree a good way to clean perch but your not cleaning out the dark mud line just under the spine. This is actually the fish’s kidney.
@GeneralStaff0192 жыл бұрын

@joshboyd8322 Жыл бұрын
@@jigsjigsnwigs3409 they are there, you can feel them, but they are so tiny that IF your grease is hot enough, they basically melt.
@robertlosasso42229 ай бұрын
