That’s not that fast. And it’s not that difficult to pack one. 6-10 minutes is the norm. Under 5 and your booking. Also one that big you can stuff in the bag and not worry. One half that size has to be more precisely packed

Same as anything, the more you do it the faster you get. Took my bike to the shop the other day, the guy did in 10 mins what would've taken me an hour. He didn't miss any steps of the packing process, I would jump that. In fact when I've used rental rigs I have no doubt jumped 5 minute pack jobs. As long as my reserve isn't a 5 minute pack I'm happy.

It’s not the missed steps but the missed inconsistencies that are caused from being complacent. If I were packing my own chute like that than absolutely no problem . But if I were a nuby and it was my first time and I watched my chute get packed that fast I’d be nervous as a mother fucker.

was it a good opening is th right question! I saw a fast pack job once on a Unit. I asked the guy about it and he said - squares always open! Well, it opened but with a lineover. He tried to clear it until way to late and the reserve opened literally on impact. I will take a longer pack any time. The only time I tried to hurry for a jump was 6 months after I had fractured 3 vertebrae in my neck and the opening was AGONY. It did however open... I was jumping a Splatostar (Stratostar) at the time which opened quick no matter what.

+Morgan4090 Its what everyone in skydiving would call a parachute or more commonly just a canopy. If you want to get into pedantry and patents perhaps it could/should be called a parafoil, however in common use it isnt. I packed for three seasons, 10k packjobs under my belt? This guy is a little faster than me but we both have the same basic technique/moves. I definitely make it a point to flake very well and I couldn't see what he was doing in there...

@@HardHatPat I was thinking they were earning $10-15 per pack, averaging $20-40 per hour. They are averaging $25-30 per hour which is good money for part time work. What is the realistic pack time? Is it more like 15-20 minutes per pack as compared to 6.5 minutes?

@@sanfranciscobay less than 10 minutes for a sport rig, a little more for a tandem. That guy did it in five no sweat.

$6 is fading away. Most packers charge $7 or $8, and because everyone usually tips, $10/pack is very common.
