Pro packing main canopy. Filmed June 30th, 2012 at Skydive Arizona (Eloy). I'm not the guy packing in the video.
Part II here - • Parachute Packing - Pa...
If you are using a collapsible pilot chute and kill-line bridle (not used in the configuration in this video, but is a common setup in skydiving), you need to cock your pilot chute or you will likely end up with a pilot-chute-in-tow malfunction. Here is a video showing how to cock the pilot chute - • How to cock a kill-lin...

Great video, man. I remember back when I bought my rig. You know what I was doing at home when I wasn't jumping? Packing. Over and over and over. But I didn't have a reference like this, I had to just remember what I'd been taught, and as a beginner there was always that moment when I was like, "How did that go again?" Spreading knowledge like this only promotes the sport in a positive way, especially for students. When you're at the DZ, your rigger is your definitive expert, but when you're not, you have helpful videos such as this one.

Hi, This is my first comment on KZbin ever. haha. But I just want to take the time to say thank you for posting this video. Just got my A license and bought my first rig and been trying to find the best packing video on the net and I've found it! Now I'm gonna keep practicing on my packing so on my next jump I'll be more confident and just enjoy the skydive. Blue Skies!

This is probably the best packing video out there. Good camera work and very well explained. I returned to the sport after a loooong layoff. We all flat packed back in the day. Upon returning to the sport, I found that pro packing is the only way it's done anymore. (90% of people didn't even know what flat packing is - LOL). Anyway, I had to get up to speed fast to spare myself any further embarrassment, and this video helped me immensely!

Flat Packing Part 2: so we're standing in our living room watching your video with our rigs spread out all over. Pretty frustrating at first, but thanks to your excellent instruction and narration, we've got it now. Just wanted to say "Thanks" for taking the time to make the video. Oh, don't forget to tell people to start by setting their brakes. Thanks again.

WormHoleFusion, Thanks a bunch for the very helpful video. My wife and I have been skydiving for 20 years and originally learned to flat pack and have been doing it ever since. We've had zero cutaways and so have been apprehensive about pro-packing. However, at large boogies the flat packing takes up more mat space and we've felt like we needed to make the jump to 21st century packing. So we just spent about 4 hours watching your video over and over [out of space - see next comment]

I just received my "A" license a few hours ago. I have had so much trouble learning how to pack. I have watched at least twenty different videos and have had six different people show me six different ways to pro pack. HANDS DOWN this is the BEST video on how to PRO pack. I am so disappointed I did not find this earlier would have saved me so many issues with my JM. I have not looked yet but have you done a video on "Flat Packing"? If not it would be a God Send if you would. The way you explained this cleared up all my doubts. I have jumped my pack jobs, but have always had to ask for help. I am certain that is no longer the case. If you have not done a video on "Flat Packing" could you please. MY DZ requires fresh off "Student" status to pack the DZ rigs. So I will have need to know flat packing as well. Again THANK YOU so very much for this video it was exactly what I and every new jumper needs to see.

The dropzone only operate on weekends but the AFF courses happen every first weekend of a new month, so If I go in when the AFF isn't running, I can probably use the student rigs when they aren't in use. At the moment, I'm only 15 and the legal age with parent permission is 16, so I'm saving that 2k now for AFF. I just want to be prepared for the course. I've done 3 tandem and my only con is my arch/stabability.

If you follow the general guidelines explained by the instructor in this video, are able to deploy in a stable body position and you aren't a sensory-overload candidate, there is very little that could go wrong. Equipment is as safe as it has ever been. There hasn't been a whole lot of improvements in the way of safety in the last decade because there hasn't been a driving need for it. You're correct, human error is the #1 cause of injury and fatality in skydiving. Most people that die in a skydive, die under an open and functional canopy, whether it be from a collision with another canopy, low turns resulting in high speed impact with the ground, etc. Don't let anyone tell you that skydiving is safe, because it is not. If it was safe, what fun would it be?

Cinescrat4D At my DZ anyone can pack, as long as they pass the test and can consistently pack safely. Actually skydiving doesn't have much bearing on your ability to safely pack a parachute. Packing at a drop zone pays very well, especially when there are a lot of tandems going on.
