Fast Procoptodon Taming Guide :: Ark : Survival Evolved Tips and Tricks

In this video I talk about how to tame the elusive Procoptodon. There are plenty of reasons why these are hard to tame, the biggest being the fact that they run away if you look at them funny. They move very erratically and that makes them hard to trap, unless you use rare flowers. Using rare flowers is a risky move, but it is worth it if you can pull it off.
I also must say, these guys are a bit of a pain to find. They are a good argument as to why I should add in spawn locations to my videos, however it is the exact opposite, I can imagine how many more complaints I would receive, "I looked in all the spots you said and I didn't find one!" Also, did you know that there are currently 9 maps, not including modded maps? And did you know that there are plenty of creatures that are located on all 9 maps? Yeah, use the wiki for ark to find spawn locations is all I'm saying.

A little fact that you missed is that babys carried in the pouch of a female mate boosted procoptodon gets double the amount of imprint percentage and the food consumption is lowered by half. Besides that great video as always.

1:39 they rarely spawn, at least till you get a good mating pair, then they are everywhere. Rare flower is the easiest way to get em to follow you. With high hp and stamina and dmg they are good travelling animals, and with their knock back, they can take down any land animals except giganotosaurus and titans, they can scale up impossible terrains with thier jumping, and escape every land animal with ease. P.s i love these animals because they are the odd variables in ark, with level 30 they can "take" down a level 150 alpha rex, they need good dmg or it will take hours irl. Lol typo ""

You didn't mention their charged jump ability. Oh, and also you get +169 hypo/hyper insulation in the pouch. If you were to find yourself in a situation where you're losing hp from heat or cold, hopping inside the pouch might save you. Other than that, great video - very informative.

you can put wooden billboards on it while it's walking around and it should work. after you put the first one down put 3 more around it to make sure it's trapped.

In ark pc you can use a rare flower or a pachyrhinosaurus with a pheromere rage effect to lure procoptodon in in ark mobile version you can only use a pachyrhinosaurus with a pheromere rage effect to lure procoptodon

It is much easier to get the Roos on certain maps. My friends and I started off on The Island and it was a pain just to get one low level roo. I ended up server transferring my guy over to Ragnarok and had a great selection of them on the desert island to the southwest.

I saw one the two times I was taming up griffins I wanted it but I didn’t have a trap or anything it would eat since I just came for a griffin so I just carried the second one I saw somewhere safe as it was being attacked still regret not at least attempting to tame it to this day

My strategy to tame this kangaroo is to get a Equis with good health and melee and then get it to a area where it won’t run away too far and then use the squid to buck kick it until it’s down

We tried (PC) several options and the best one (for us) was fly high above with Argentavis with a lot of stamina (Quetzals are only flying, never on the ground) to find one, then quickly down to fill stamina, my hubby hooked himself on my Argentavis with grappling hook (if you only grab another player with Argentavis, the player sees mostly the argentavis and not anything else, so this method is better for the view), switched weapons (still hooked) and go back up to find the Quetzal (it should be near). Me following the Quetzal and my hubby shooting it (try to have the best weapon and darts you can). The arg stamina is really important, bec the Q is flying away from you after each shot, so you have to speed up to get closer again and once you are out of stam, you have to fly down and wait and find the Q again and its torpidity is dropping, so it can take really long time. Once the Quetzal is unconscious, it will fall down to the ground, so make sure to follow it quickly and secure the area around, so no T-rexes lvl 100 or snakes come to hit it or you (as happened to us). That time, we had no Exceptional kibbles, so I stayed and watched after the Q and my hubby went to collect some Raw prime meat. Once it is tamed, it is best to have a cryopod to put the Quetzal in and fly safely to your base. If you play alone or simply want to do it solo, you can find several videos for sure (basically find the Q, dismount from your Argentavis and quickly hook up and order it to follow Q, so you can shoot, but not too close, so the Arg doesn't hit the Q), but imho this is kinda hard, so if you have a chance, don't do it alone. Hope this helped at least to someone. :) And feel free to ask more questions, if you have any. :)

they attract other dinos and attack the victim until it's dead but you could use it and dart it at a dodo or something but it could be annoying to get into a trap.

Bola them, shoot tranq darts (or hit with wooden club, if you don't have anything else) and feed with Basic kibble, Raw prime meat or simply Raw meat, easy. Those were one of the first ones we tamed. :)

I tame this by trapping it with a quetzal. I made it run into my quetzal and it got stuck. I could tell it was stuck because after I shot it, it wasn’t moving. It was trying to run away from me but couldn’t.

Take a Brontosaurus to the swamps you will get few stacks of plant x and mushroom, and the mushrooms are the fastest.
