That's a great routine. Just be careful with that soap. It can be very irritating for some people. I don't have sensitive skin and it always dried out my skin when I used it and caused my face to get red and itritated...not from the kojic acid in it but most likely the other, not so good ingredients in it. Definitely don't want that with melasma. Heliocare or SunIsdin is a staple. So is Glutathione with NAC. Thanks so much for sharing! 💜

@@runjhunmalhotra5770 yes I do but be very careful. I use my AzA 15% finacea foam first and then my tretinoin which is the lowest you can go (0.025%). Also keep in mind I worked my way up to using them together and it took about a month or so.

@@GracefulBeautyWithSheri absolutely agree 💯 Kojic soap is definitely drying. Since my skin is dry and sensitive I don’t let it sit very long and will usually follow it up with a CeraVe cleanser or milk cleanser from Japan. Also because I follow it with green tea toner (and sometimes a Ginseng toner too) maybe that’s why I haven’t had any issues but you know….skin is so funny🤦🏻‍♀️ as I continue to age I’ve figured out quickly it takes an eagle eye and constant monitoring🧐

I have melasma too and heat is a huge and sneaky trigger. I had that same crown of pigment on my forehead as well as on the top of each cheek and temples. Turns out it was my hat sitting on my forehead in that same strip/area and where my sunglasses touch my face during my outdoor runs. I now wear my hat above my hairline but make sure the brim is still wide enough for coverage. I still get melasma all over the place, but I try to minimize that additional heat caused by contact because it adds up! I’ve successfully used 12% HQ off and on for a year and have seen drastic improvement. We’re all different so I totally respect the avoidance there. I was just so desperate because with spf, wide brim hats, avoiding heat at much as possible, and using skincare with wimpy percentages of inhibitors for so long just wasn’t cutting it at all. I’m always so jealous when I hear others are successful with those products 🤷🏻‍♀️😉💕

Omgosh I know right, heat is so sneaky. I love those baseball hats by the brand Mission that have the cooling bands inside but they don't make large brim floppy hats. I may just get the cooling cloth they make and cut it and put it inside my floppy hats and see if that helps. Try Maui Jim sunglasses. Those are my faves. A little pricey but they don't heat up. They are polarized so I NEVER squint and they never get hot. Wow that's so awesome to hear you had great results with high % hydroquinone. I'm way too chicken to ever try because literally everyone else I know who has tried anything higher than 4% has experienced permanent darkening pigment. You are the 1st with a positive result that I've heard from. So that's good to know. Thanks so much for sharing. 💜

@@GracefulBeautyWithSheri I was chicken too! But I was starting to look like Super Mario with my melasma ‘stache and concealer+foundation was no match for its power 😂 I’m in so many meetings daily, and when that’s the first place you see eyes go, it hurts. 2% arbutin, 3% tranex, 10% azelaic, mild exfoliation, THD vit c, and 4% HQ (taking breaks in between) completely ineffective. I do the 12% for 3 months (only once a day, and all those other ingredients in the morning), take a 3 month break, and I’ve been good so far. I’m still searching for something effective for maintenance on my off months, though. It slowly starts to come back. I’ve tried Cyspera too, still using it nightly but I’m not sure it’s doing anything. I gotta try those glasses, thanks!

I’m just not seeing any results, if any my hyperpigmentation is worse. So, I’m going to order the Arbutin again, and the others u was using and start doing this routine. Yes I love love Avene Cicalfate lotion for my dry, dehydrated skin. So, you say that the spf you used dries down and is not sticky and or wet feeling? Don't get discouraged. Sometimes that happens especially with melasma. People with regular hyperpigmentation or just dark spots often see really fast results with this routine but melasma can be stubborn. Definitely up your sunscreen game. Make sure you are applying enough AND reapplying every few hours as well. Spf once a day isn't enough if we're trying to fade excess pigment. Just 2 minutes walking from the mall to the car in the sun will darken that pigmentation up again so also get a good sunhat. 💜

Great video and yes, I would do 592 steps if it meant being free of melasma! Question: Have you ever tried the Fade Serum from MakeUp Artists Choice (MUAC)? I hesitate to use it because it does have alcohol in it and some drs say to avoid that if you are sensitive with melasma and pigment easy due to my spanish heritage. I'm thinking using the Fade serum (along with my tretinoin), and then add azelaic acid, and tranexamic and most bases will be covered? I'm still looking for a vitamin C that doesn't clog my pores or make me red and sensitive.... I think I must have done bad things in a past life as I have terrible luck with my acne, sensitive, reactive, clog prone, hyperpigmented, melasma skin... Also have you tried the skinceutical Discoloration Defense. It has Tran. acid, kojic, niacinamide. I would love to know if its worth it as I have wasted so much money on products that don't work or break me out.

Hi there! Are you adding a bunch of water with the cleanser? I don't, I just use the 2 pumps on dry hands and face, massage it in THEN lightly wet my hands and keep massaging and then all done, now rinse off. No need to have it dripping down in the eyes.yikes! It's like a treatment cleanser. It's not one to remove product buildup or anything like that so if you use it at night use a makeup remover 1st. 💜

Which azelaic acid? The Q+A brand one I showed is clear on the skin. It pumps out with a white sheer serum like tint. It should wash right off. But I like to use this acid cleanser in the morning even if I don't do this routine in a.m. since I use Vit C in a.m. or I use Cerave foaming face wash or Avene Extremely Gentle Clenser or Neutrogena Stubborn Texture or IS Clinical Cleansing Complex..I mean, I rotate many different cleansers so it really just depends what's in my rotation at the time but those are my current ones. 💜

Also why do you use an oil cleanser in the morning? Is it an oil to foam cleanser like from Avene? If it's a DHC oil cleanser or something like that I'd use that at night and follow with a 2nd water based cleanse after. But of course if it works for your skin what your doing, keep doing it. 💜

@@GracefulBeautyWithSheri well , I use an oil cleanser first (Hadalabo brand) to wash off my SPF from the day, then rinse , and then on the still wet face , I use the exfoliating wash . @@GracefulBeautyWithSheri my mistake , it’s the Vitamin C featured in your video , not the azelaic acid although I bought the same one you were using in the video as well. I think I assumed it was the azelaic acid because the vitamin C goes on clear at first but I now see it’s when it dries down that it gives it that brownish appearance . I think I’ll try using the exfoliating cleanser in the morning too like you do and not the oil cleanser (which I realize is really only necessary to remove SPF or foundation , makeup) or any of the others you say you use. The vitamin C is oily and caused an acne breakout. The dark spot serum I used for 3-4 months and it did not fade my hyperpigmentation in any way at all.

Not at all. It's a super gentle exfoliating cleanser. That's the key with melasma...you don't want to cause irritation because that will lead to inflammation and then that will lead to darkening pigment. But it's still strong enough to see a difference. I can use it daily, it's that gentle. But I don't. I like to use my Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser a few days a week to give my skin a rest or sort of a "fast" from actives. 💜

Don't use it in the same routine as Tret though. And if you are new to Tretinoin, avoid starting acids. Keep your routine and other products super gentle and don't try any new products till you see how your skin reacts to Tret.....for at least a good 6 weeks. Trust me on this. Simple is best when starting Tretinoin. 🤗

Yes a few years ago they were kind enough to send me a bunch of their products to test. I never repurchased anything. I didn't notice anything remarkable when using. But there wasn't anything bad about them that I didn't like, just kinda basic and didn't do much for my skin. 💜

🙋🏻‍♀️ Anybody knows what’s good to fade scars? Mine is still red since it’s new. Thought I would treat it. I’m currently using Castor oil. Thanks!

Use plain Vaseline at night. During the day if you can use a physical bandaid/surgical tape I'd do that for at least a few weeks. As soon as you get inside you should use a silicone scar gel/patch to help keep it flat so it doesn't become a keloid. If you can't wear a bandaid use a ton of very high SPF. I had sixty stitches in my face and have almost invisible scars. Good luck!!

Silicone is great and sunscreen is a must or it definitely won't heal. I also really like Neogenesis Growth Factor Serum. It's quite pricey but it works very well. I have a discount code for that if needed but maybe try a scar gel or silicone 1st. 🤗

I'm not 100% sure but my brother (he is my full blood brother) recently did his DNA testing and it was mostly British and 15% Nigerian. I may do mine someday but I've heard strange stuff about what they do with the DNA.

How would you include a retinal product
@GracefulBeautyWithSheri
@GracefulBeautyWithSheri Жыл бұрын
I personally alternate this type of routine with my retinol routine or do this during the day and my retinol at night. As long as I'm using a few melasma inhibitor type ingredients in my routine each time, I'm good. This is just an example in case someone likes exact details. 💜

Estrogen dominance is treated with Utrogestan its a progesterone tablet take 1 at night doesn't cause cancer see Louise newson on KZbin. The Utrogestan is a micronised progesterone it balances estrogen note progesterone leaves us first then estrogen. The estrogen dominance causes the following insulin resistance increased cholesterol increased blood sugars Wright gain skin rashes melasma vaginally aptpphy (not reversible best to avoid) and night sweats plus hot flushes. The lack of progesterone causes mood issues ie short fuse anxiety depression crap sleep low libido. Agitation no patience. There's 80 symptoms of peri and menopause you probably have more than you realise I did

Thanks for sharing. I'm skipping any HRT until absolutely necessary. My mom and my older sister never took anything and did fine so I'm hoping I'll do ok. I actually don't even take medicine unless super necessary (not even a Tylenol unless absolutely needed.) I do take supplements for estrogen dominance, which do really help and I avoid certain foods which can increase estrogen dominance. But I'm sure if it gets worse, I'll look into bio identical hormones. Thanks again for sharing 🤗
